Hi there! It's Aleyna, I'm a 21-year-old Turkish girl. Currently, I'm living and studying in Rome with Erasmus+ program, and I want to spend this year full of adventures and unforgettable memories!
I'm new in this community that's why I don't have any references yet :")

I grew up in a historical city in Turkey called Canakkale, then I moved to Istanbul for university. I'm studying architecture at Istanbul Technical University. On October 2022, I came to Rome with the Erasmus program, and right now I'm studying at Roma Tre University and I'll be in Rome till July.

My traveler spirit started to grow up when I was in high school. I used to be a scout, of course, we were making a lot of hiking, camping, travels to other cities... Even during that time, I knew that it was not just a hobby for me, it was the main part of my personality. After high school, before starting university I traveled a lot around Turkey (my mother didn't let me go abroad :p) Then in the first year of university, I starting to working as a volunteer in an international NGO called EESTEC. I met with a lot of people from different countries of Europe thanks to EESTEC. I traveled a lot with EESTEC and had a chance to work with the best people in this community.
Getting to know new people, making friendships, and cultural exchange, these things are what make me feel alive. These are what make me wanna take risks and go one more step further in life!
Besides all of these, I'm also really into arts and music. I'm an amateur bass player, a contemporary art lover, and a sketcher.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

In summer of 2022, I started to work at a hostel in Bodrum. It was supposed to be just a summer job to save some money for my Erasmus adventure. But of course, life had other plans... While I was working there I met with a lot of backpackers. A LOT! And all of them were so unique personalities and all of them had so different mindsets. I've never had a worker-guest relationship with them, it was always a pure friendship. I loved talking with them every hour of the day, getting to know their lifestyle, and listening to their crazy adventures... I was really inspired by their courage! Unwittingly, they had lit an unquenchable fire inside me!
After my job has done and I moved to Rome, I started to plan a solo interrail trip for Christmas. But it shouldn't be like a holiday, it should be a once-in-a-lifetime experience, it should be new people, it should be new friends, new cultures, and new adventures! It should be that kind of story that I can tell when I met with a hostel worker! That's why I decided to travel with Couchsurfing. I'm so excited to get to begin, and I can't wait to meet with the people of this community! I hope you'll be part of my journey and my story <3
