ABOUT ME

Hello All!! We are Aley and Lindsey. Two really good friends who are currently visiting students, from De Pere, Wisconsin, USA, at the University of College Cork for the spring 2013 term and are "inter-railing" through Europe for the month of April. 14 countries in 27 days... think we can do it?!?!? Being that we are both broke college students we are looking for the best way to save some money and were told about couch surfing.
We are both extremely laid back and love to travel, see and experience new things and most of all have a good laugh. I, Aley, am a photographer and have actually owned my own business for about 4 years. I am an Elementary Education major and once I am done with school in 2 years I hope to join the peace corps and teach in less developed countries. I am always smiling and just like to enjoy the journey rather than the arrival. One of my favorite things to do in a new city is just to get lost. Weird right? But I think you just appreciate it so much more and can experience it without attempting to squeeze in every single touristy thing.
Lindsey is one of the sweetest people you will every meet. She does a terrific job of telling people what she thinks in a way that will create the least amount of drama. She is also a really great person to travel with because she has a level head. She loves to joke around and when you get her on a roll can hear here Wisconsin accent. We are both extremely friendly and operate on a "go with the flow" system and cannot wait to meet all of you classy people!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Traveling and surfing throughout Europe with one of my best friends for the month of April. 14 countries in 27 days! We love hostels and all, but are on an extremely tight budget and want to try something new!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have couch surfed in America, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland and Rome. 99% of these experiences have been AMAZING and I would love to continue to live a day in the life of a local of wherever the wind takes me.

Interests

Well, as I said before I own a photography business and can make a few extra $$$ on the weekend by taking some senior photos. I also love to be outside ~ basically doing anything and everything. I am a camp counselor at a rough and tough youth camp where I teach my girls how to build their own shelters and cook their food on an open fire. I love to canoe, kayak, swim, hike, bike, and just go for a walk outside. I also love to listen to music, like all of the time, watch movies, and hang out with my friends. My latest thing, however, is traveling. While we are abroad we are attempting to make the most of our experience through traveling. I just love the rush of going into a new city and experiencing how people live their lives. (Sometimes I think I should have been an anthropology major...)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well... I don't think there is enough space to do that... but when we visited Paris in January we decided to go and explore the city at night and happened upon Notre Dame. It was just before midnight and we decided to go and sit on the "bleachers" across from the cathedral. On the way up we were able to witness one of the most amazing moments of my life.... just as we were walking up there was a man bent down on one knee facing a women... as we got closer to the top we were able to get the perfect glimpse of him sliding a ring, glimmering in the moonlight, onto her finger! Then there were two street performers who came up the street, playing and singing... to say the moment was magical is almost an understatement. I will never forget witnessing such an amazing event~
