About Me
Hello dear reader,
I have an easygoing, flexible personality and love connecting with people in general. Thinking of myself as a friendly, responsible, interesting and positive person who’s done a lot in his lifetime and loves traveling, meeting new cultures and is not shy of lending a hand if the need arises. My learned trade is as a professional Chef which I’ve done internationally for about 20 years after which I made the move from The Netherlands to Ireland in 1994. I bought a mountain that I developed with houses, workshops, poly tunnels, roads and forestry.
In Ireland I set up goat farming, milking and producing soft and hard goat cheeses which I did for 10 odd years. During that time I’d also gotten into the wooden cabin trade, something I still do. Around 2006 I set up another company supplying and building Soapstone heaters and recently added some more businesses,
one of which is in galvanised steel and glass, building/constructing private and commercial green houses.
Some of my hobbies are learning, reading, walking, enjoying nature and wildlife, swimming, foremost in the ocean, and camping. Some things still on my list are
learning archery and playing golf!
Thank you very much for reading.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My main reason to be on Couchsurfing is learning to know different cultures around the world. I also love connecting with people in general and finding out what keeps them ticking. Next to that I just find it more interesting staying in people’s homes compared to a sterile non personal hotel room. You just experience, see and learn more that way!
