To write my book

ABOUT ME

I would describe myself as a sort of Renaissance man, an Enlightenment guy. I'm very interested in art, music, literature and philosophy. Though I must say I'm not a huge fan of Modern Art.

Though paradoxically one of my most favourite works of art is a piece of modern art. It's in the British Museum it's a chair, in a small garden made entirely out of bullets and parts of a machine gun.

As a person I'm outgoing but not reckless, fun but not silly and serious but not without a good sense of humour. I have many definitions of a good time, so I'm not easily bored. Above all I'm a great conversationalist, there's nothing I like better than getting to know people and their ideas better.

My only vice is that every now and again I enjoy smoking a Cuban cigar while drinking a Mojito. Not at the same time of course :0)

Yep that's me.

PHILOSOPHY

My personal philosophy on life is based on a what Korean teacher told me over dinner, when I was teaching their. So I guess its eastern. It goes like this.

"We all enter the world crying with those around us smiling. We should all aim to leave the world smiling with those around us crying."

I take it to mean what you dream, is what you should do.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My Couchsurfing experience was in the Czech Republic in 2010. I had a great time with interesting people who I still keep in touch with to this day.

I'm interested in many things. my main interest is writing & history. I dabble in journalism (See Website) look at my articles and tell me what you think.

In fact I'm currently writing history book is about black men and women in European history from ancient times to the early 20th century who led extraordinary lives.

I love the great outdoors, especially hiking up mountings or hills. I love going through long walks and just thinking about life and everything.

Cooking is also another interest. But don't get me wrong I'm not a great cook, however I'm not a bad one either. But it is my hope to be better than what I am.

Movies: my favourites are Metroland, Babel, Glory, The Talented Mr Ripley, The Reader, Lawrence of Arabia & Malcom X, Judgement at Nuremberg, The Spy Game.

I like science fiction and historical movies. Spartacus, Indiana Jones, aliens, gladiator, Braveheart, apocalypto stuff like that.

I'm also partial to an all guns blazing action movie too.

Music: I like everything. From Bob Marley to Brach. I'm a huge Jazz fan.

Better to list authors: Fanon, Shakespeare, Kerouac, Machiavelli, Homer, modern African literature and myself :0)

4. Singing 30’s Jazz songs with an Czech Opera singer on a train in the Czech republic.

5. Beating my computer at chess.

6. Seeing the dead body of the Mao Zedong in his mausoleum in Tiananmen Square.
