About Me
CURRENT MISSION
change the world and be home by dinner time
ABOUT ME
Always been curious, sometimes inquisitive towards the rest of the world: culture, beliefs, art, folklore, food now that you let me think of it!
I work as a researcher in molecular oncology. Interesting field, but somehow working in science can bias your way of thinking, and acting, in everyday's world. Ok don't begin to think of me as a prototype of mad scientist, with lab coat, thick glasses and chaotic hairstyle. It's all a cliche!
Except for the hairstyle.
Anyway, I easily get involved in extracurricular activities, the farthest from science the better.
I like outdoor activities, music (listened and sung), theatre. Lately, I'm crazy for Jitterbug/Lindy Hop dancing. Luckily, Rome offers plenty of choice on all of the above.
PHILOSOPHY
Every person has its own philosophy, sometimes conflicting with the others'. Based on this, I try to comprehend everybody's point of view, and eventually accept it. The same I expect from the others. Rarely this expectation is not met.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I can make a decent pizza. You bring beer, ok?
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Started hosting on november 2010. Meeting CSers in China was a blessing, as travelling alone in a place where people do not speak the tongues you speak can be kind of a castaway experience.
Interests
I love listening to music, discovering something I still haven't heard. Getting to know ambassadors from other parts of the world, making my own recipe to happiness picking from everybody else's, and hopefully being able to give to anybody else

Music, Movies, and Books
there's a handful of directors whose movies I wouldn't miss: Martin Scorsese, Spike Lee, Tim Burton, Christopher Nolan, but having said that, I tend to see as many independent movies as I can, given the richness of small movie festivals here in Rome. Often I do repent, but there's always an hidden gem awaiting discover.
As far as music goes, a friend of mine says "ogni lustro cambia il gusto". What does this mean? I hope I'll have a chance to explain it meeting you.
And books: I love to read fiction, but when I sometimes need a break, I read on science, theatre, travel guides when I'm about to plan a long trip.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
amazing things done? Survive electrocution several times, tea ceremony in the middle of the night, plain moonlight in a field, berber wedding... I have had many bizarre experiences, but I probably overvalue the definition of "amazing". Amazing is being, say, brought in a sled in the arctic night whith shining northern lights, and the pack that pulls the sled is howling "Are you lonesome tonight"
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, anybody interested in the science that lies beneath all the discussion on genetics? Be my guest! Beware though, I can't help but being very serious on that!
As far as learning/sharing goes, whatever gets a person's enthusisam, might also be worth sharing. Even, say, bug collectors ( I definitely hate bugs and most 6-legged animals. Well...ladybug is ok!)
I am now part of a research group on traditional music and theatre. I can teach you songs from many different traditions. I am quite good at cooking and I might train you on how to cook a decent pizza while singing some extracts from Puccini's "Turandot". That'll be enough for you to obtain honorary italian citizenship.
