À propos de moi

I have a firm belief that you can't get lost if you don't know where you are going, and if you just let yourself figure out the route on the way, life is a whole lot less stressful. I try to visit somewhere new whenever my funds allow it and to experience that place as best I can. Everywhere has something special about it; my favorite part of traveling is finding people who are willing to share their cities with me. Growing up in one big city and then moving to university in another, I know how many off-the-beaten-path places are hiding just around the corner from Trip Advisor's Top 10 things to do in a city. Don't get me wrong, I love my share of tourist spots - they're famous for a reason- but I also love getting to know a place more intimately: Where can I get a $5 pint and meet locals? Which cafe has the best coffee when I need to wake up and then still when I need my mid-afternoon pick-me-up?

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I'm in college. While I work part-time, most college internships are unpaid, leaving me to babysit, scrounge, and save up as much as possible before each adventure. When I travel, I like to experience as much as I can afford to and get to know locals. Couchsurfing seems like the perfect opportunity to get the most out of any trip I take.

Centres d'intérêt

There are few activities I'll say no to. I generally will give anything a chance at least once - fried scorpions got a second shot when prepared differently - I still didn't like them, but I tried again. I like mixing up when I'm in a city or in nature and love getting to see lesser known spaces. My dad was a chef so I have a passion for cooking and learning new recipes. Most of my best friends have been made over a shared drink after class which I will argue is the #1 way to get to know people (closely followed by coffee).

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Big fan of pop-acoustic at the moment: Ed Sheeran, Harry Styles, James TW, etc. But I also like anything that you would probably find in a Karaoke bar. I like music, but I'm not super attentive to it, so I tend to just hit play on Spotify and listen during my commute, if something really sticks out, I'll favorite it and probably forget it the next day.

As far as books go, I like memoirs and political science books. I'm currently trying to maintain my Spanish by reading some Gabriel García Marquez. My dad often sends me books to read for trips.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I rode on the back of a motorcycle up the coast of Viet Nam with my former boyfriend the summer before my junior year of college. Originally, I had my own but when learning how to ride it, the instructor taught me how to accelerate and sent me off to practice without teaching me how to break. Long story short, if you don't know how to break, decelerating into bushes will stop a motorcycle and will leave you quite scraped up and if someone cares about you enough they won't make you ride your own again that day.

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

I make a great breakfast and would be more than eager to teach someone how to make french toast and eggs. I love hearing and sharing stories over a drink, whether that be out or grabbing something from the local store and bringing it back. When I travel with books, I like to try and exchange them with people. I'm an atrocious dancer, but I'd be willing to learn if someone were to offer me any style at all.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

A drink, a laugh, a story. I travel pretty light so most of the time all I can offer is something small or an experience. Maybe there's somewhere you've always wanted to go but never had the time or company - I'll explore it with you!
