About Me

I make sounds for video games. Current goals include making my flat a part time punk squat, skating all the skateparks, and trying to get that sweet sweet European citizenship.

This space is LGBTQ+, Anti-fascist, and Anti-racist. If you have issues with that stay somewhere else.

------

When I joined CS in 2018 I was working full-time doing sound design for a boring company, it was stable and in my field, but the lack of creative freedom was killing me so I quit, moved to Oslo Norway, and did freelance sound design full-time. I now have my own company with the incredible friends I met there, and a constant excuse to travel.

Personality wise I'm extremely extroverted but I tend to match the mood of whoever I'm around so quiet environments are equally appreciated. I strongly believe in making everything a little bit better than how you found it when i'm staying with others, and try to create a safe and comfortable space when others stay with me.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Short Version: Travel is expensive and often inaccessible, I want to be part of the reason others are able to experience new parts of the world. Also fuck Airbnb.

------

Shelter and freedom of movement should be human rights, but they continue to be unattainable for most. I can't change the world by myself but I can continue to share what I can, a cozy little futon and all the tips and tricks for cheap travel I can think of!

I'm usually super busy with work and my own traveling, but every once and a while the stars align and I have the space and free time to host someone! I can't always host, but I'm happy to try and point you in the right directions to see some really cool parts of the city . But I hope this culture of sharing can continue to grow.

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm mostly involved in the hardcore punk scene here, I also go to metal, jazz, and noise shows pretty often. I usually know at least 3 concerts happening a week so I can absolutely recommend something cool.

I'm getting back into reading a lot, my bookshelves are entirely filled with political theory and anarchist essays.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Quit a job I wasn't happy with and went freelance in a country I hadn't visited before moving to.

Made sound effects for 15 different games while on a 4 day train ride from Chicago to San Francisco (Train Jam 2019!)

Played bass with a headlining band at the House of Blues in Chicago without much time to prepare (and terribly out of practice).

Teach, Learn, Share

I taught a University course and done a ton of talks on sound design for games so if you're interested in anything audio related I'd love to help however I can. Podcasts, music recording, voice acting, film, video games, you name it. If there's a microphone involved I'm sure I've got a few tips and tricks.

When I'm not working I'm usually at a skatepark. I played roller derby for 3 years in Chicago, but after moving I've switched to ramp skating.

I'm also really into the local activist scene. Climate protests, anti-capitalism, immigrant rights, anti-racism, anti-war, i've been involved in most of it so I'm happy to point you to whatever local chapter you'd like to meet up with.

What I Can Share with Hosts

First of all I obviously I plan to clean up after myself and keep whatever space I stay in even more shiny and clean than it was when I arrived.

I absolutely love to swap travel recommendations, I like to think I've found some pretty unique places, but there's always more to explore.

I really enjoy cooking and I tend to cook for myself more often than I go out so I will always make enough for anyone interested in sharing a meal.
