About Me
Headed to JA from my hometown of London, to connect with my extended family (I'm half-Jamaican) and visit the home of my grandparents.. I'm really excited to discover a big part of myself through the food, culture, people and plants of Jamaica. I'm a horticulturist by trade, so this is also a big opportunity for me to see what was native to JA before colonial rule and what was introduced as economic crops and how this links to our mixed heritages as the one people out of many.
I've been fortunate enough to have had the means to travel in many parts of the world. I has been very enriching for my soul and this journey to Jamaica is the one I've been putting off until a family member or boyfriend could join me.. and now I see I was meant to set out alone and I'm full of gratitude to do so.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm all-ways interested more in individual experiences of locals, what they can share about life, their country and thoughts. I think this and similar sites provide a really beautiful resource for connecting others and I often find those I'm gravitated toward connecting with have this relation with me also - which is impact-full as contact through computers can feel very sterile sometimes.

Music, Movies, and Books
Books: just re-read 'A Prophet' by Kahil Gibran. Strong interest for books which conjure up vivid images from the words. Diaspora history, ancient history, yogic lifestyle, plant-based nutrition, womens natural healthcare and black history. Poetry.
Movies: just watched a great documentary by Menelik Shabazz called 'Looking for Love.' Was about the struggle to find love in the modern age and is assembled from interviews and wound with poetry, as well as being very comical. I've found myself being more conscious of what I choose to expose myself to through films lately and at times, I find it important/interesting to be informed on issues, but I try to space them out far and few between, to take time to process.
Music: everyday
