About Me

So, to attempt to prevent my fellow CS users being faced with a complete stranger, here is my endeavour at a self-description:
A pragmatic and relaxed person who enjoys the company of kind-hearted people. I believe I get on with most types of people.

I love nature, and I'm genuinely intrigued by the diversity of the populations inhabiting our glorious Earth and their associated cultures, cuisines and architecture. (It is fascinating how we all have adapted to achieve the same goal but each in our different ways).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I believe that to truly appreciate a place respectfully, one should seek advice from a local resident. Coachsurfing obviously goes beyond this as it enables more (hopefully) meaningful engagements.

Music, Movies, and Books

I enjoy all genres of music - variety is the spice of life! Some examples in no particular order include Bajofondo and Gotan Project; Buena Vista Social Club; Vukovi; Lonely the Brave; Distillers; Cage the Elephant; Young the Giant; Fakear; Portishead; DJ SKT

In terms of film, I do have a preference for world cinema - mainly dramas. On the other side of the spectrum, a well-executed sci-film can be thought provoking!
Some examples: Daiteiden no yoru ni (Until the lights come back), Tokyo Sonata, Infernal Affairs trilogy ('The Departed' was Scorcese's take on the Hong Kong original); A Guide to Recognising your Saints.

Reading - I wish I did more 'personal' reading as opposed to only reading technical/scientific papers but time is a rare commodity! The last two books I read were 'A Journey to God' by Jasser Auda and 'Hokkaido Highway Blues' by Will Ferguson.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

This can be a weird question - and can come off pretentious. If I have to say something:
not amazing as it was more out of duty - saved the life of a colleague.

Teach, Learn, Share

I understand a little about internal combustion engines, xE vehicles and a bit of general vehicle engineering - if that is of any interest!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share the sense of assurance with my host that I will treat their place with respect. And hopefully have a some enjoyable conversation!

Bosnia and Herzegovina, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Malaysia, Morocco, Pakistan, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, Scotland, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, Wales
