About Me

CURRENT MISSION

think, study, listen, talk, write!

ABOUT ME

I am a very friendly, open minded, honest and trustworthy person. I have a very large number of interests and get on very well with most people.

PHILOSOPHY

"Live simply, so that others may simply live"

"There is enough for everyone's need but not enough for everyone's greed"

"Be the change you want to see in the world"

"Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you will still land among the stars"

"Love, before all else"

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Couchsurfed in 2007 and look forward to hosting in 2009!

When I am hosting, my availability can vary. Sometimes i am hecticly busy and will not be able to give my guests too much time (this can especially be the case if uni is on and i have got assignments due in, etc.) and at other times, if you like, i can hang around for ages to chat or show you around for a day. However since I live with my family (i.e. parents+2brothers), so there is almost always someone there who can help you out or answer any questions that you might have.

The food in our house is free for the guests and we would not expect you to buy food seperately (however if there is something you like that we do not have, then we can understand).

If you're at home at meal times then we would like you to have the food with us.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

'Couchsurfed' with many relatives, friends and friends of friends before discovering 'couchsurfing.com'. Since discovering the website, have couchsurfed with Orhan and got to get to know Alp, both of whom were complete strangers before and who are now friends.

Unfortunately due to my hectic (and sometimes unpredictable) travelling schedule and bad organisational skills was not able to organise any more 'couchsurfing experiences' through the website in 2007, however still got to stay with family, family friends, friends of friends in different parts of the world, including Europe, USA and Canada during my time there! :)

Looking forward to meeting great people, making fantastic friends and hosting travellers from around the world!

Music, Movies, and Books

BOOKS

Two of the best fiction books that I have probably ever read up to this point in my life are ‘Brave New World’ by Aldous Huxley &‘Nineteen Eighty-four’ by George Orwell.

One of the best non-fictions that I have read and which has had quite a significant impact on my life is
‘Language Death’ by David Crystal

By the way during my high school days I have read Books 1,2,3 and 4 in the Harry Potter series by J. K. Rowling and absolutely loved them and was completely and absolutely addicted! ;) I still think they are a great set of books however have never got around to finishing the series...

MOVIES

Some of the stuff that i've really enjoyed/'found worthwhile watching' includes:

Avatar!!! (do i need to say anything?)

The Lion King (great film- one of the first cartoon films that i watched and still my favourite cartoon film!!), Gattaca, Gladiator, The Simpsons, different comedy movies, Gadar (a bollywood film), Mahol Theek Hai (a bollywood comedy film).....

Some of my favourite documentaries include:

"We"- featuring the words of Arundhati Roy
(http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=4100322562082185221#docid=-4631324857495646397)

"Capitalism: a love story" by Micahel Moore.

"The Power of Community: How Cuba Survived Peak Oil?" (directed by Faith Morgan)

MUSIC

I enjoy music which has at least some element of meaningfulness and 'deepfulness' to it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Completed an amazing (even if at times stressful) 'around the world trip'. Starting december 2006 and finishing in december 2007.

Teach, Learn, Share

i would be interested in learning some interesting things about customs, traditions, history, philosophy, personal stories etc.. (particularly of the region where you are from, where you've been and also in general your take on the world!). Also, depending on how interested you are and how much time we have, wouldn't mind learning 1 or 2 traditional games/sports played in the region/s of the world with which you associate your cultural heritage and perhaps 1 or 2 traditional foods.

also if there is something else that you would like to share/teach which i haven't mentioned then please feel free to do so.

I’m usually more than happy to share what i know.
This can include: traditional indian food and games, info. on customs, history, philosophies, etc...many other things.

just let me know what you would like to know and i will try and help out the best i can!

Also if you're into talking and discussing important things, then i'm all up for a talkfest. happy to talk for ages on philosophy, politics (and other issues as discussed under 'Interests') and how to solve the world's problems! maybe we can work out a solution together! ;)
