About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Exploring modern transcendentalism in all its forms...

ABOUT ME

"To You"

Stranger, if you passing meet me and desire to speak to me, why
should you not speak to me?
And why should I not speak to you?

-Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass

PHILOSOPHY

Love thy neighbor.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Currently I'm not living in a place where I can provide an actual crash spot, but I do love to show surfers around town! I've lived all over the Triangle and can give you some pointers about weird places to visit, weird places not to visit, etc. :)

Interests

-Music!
-Singing!
-Throwing parties!
-Meeting unusual people and introducing them to other unusual (interesting) people.
-Learning/speaking new languages
-Spending time in/on/near the water...swimming in the ocean, rowing, kayaking, staring at/jumping off waterfalls, taking long showers...I'm thoroughly enamored of surfing (I learned in Costa Rica but I am absolutely pitiful at it) and surf culture, a product of my upbringing in South Florida. I hope to someday take a trip à la "Endless Summer" and film it.

I'm into documentary films and I'm currently trying to figure out how I can get down to the Gulf region [Gulf of Mexico] to start a film about the effects of the Deepwater Horizon Disaster on the shrimping/oystering community.

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh, this is too tough to fit into a box. I'm learning to play the ukulele so I listen to lots of random things and hope that one day I'll know ALL THE CHORDS.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I narrowed it down to three:

Bioluminescence off the coast of Golfito, Costa Rica...remains the most beautiful thing I've ever seen.

Las Cataratas de Iguazu in northern Argentina. It's like looking at The Land Before Time.

Flying through a major electrical storm on my way back from a wedding in Lincoln, Nebraska in the summer of 2005, while the pilot announced that the oxygen masks may be deployed and that we'd be making an emergency landing because we were about to run out of fuel. The clouds were breathtaking.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you some random things and how to make excellent scrambled eggs.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Boundless enthusiasm, joy, and spirit. Amateur ukulele lessons. And maybe some local coffee or chocolate from Raleigh.

Countries I’ve Visited

Argentina, China, Costa Rica, France, Italy, Japan, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, United States

Countries I’ve Lived In
