About Me
Hi! I'm Alica, a 22 year old adventurer trying to experience as many places as possible before my money runs out and I have to return home to save enough to travel again! I am half German and have traveled with my family throughout Europe when I was younger, but am now setting off on my own! I am meeting up with friends along the way... but for the places where I'm by my lonesome I think the best way to really get a feel for a place is to rough it and immerse yourself in local activities and people!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I've heard great things about the couch surfing community from fellow backpackers, and I thought why not give it a go... seems like a great way to meet some awesome locals who can give you the lowdown on do's and don'ts for the area while having an authentic experience of the region, and also saving abit of cash along the way!
Interests
Travelling!! That's a given on this site... but also horseriding, music, dancing, trying different foods, writing, hopefully learning to surf, playing piano and painstakingly teaching myself the harmonica, and ultimately exploring God's amazing, spectacular earth!

Music, Movies, and Books
I pretty much go for any kind of music genre, but especially love chilled out reggae/funk/house music... and anything with a summery feel! Although anything that makes you want to dance is great by me 😀
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well probably the craziest thing that I'm most proud of doing was working on a prawn trawler off the top of Australia for 3 months at the start of this year! I wanted to give it a go to save money to travel, but also was pretty bored with my retail job back home and wanted to do something fun and completely out of my comfort zone... and just to see if I could hack it! It was no doubt the hardest thing I've ever done in my life, but was so satisfying knowing that I can tough it out, just me and 5 hard fisher blokes, I loved it! And having never spent any time at sea, I fell in love with the quietness and beauty of the ocean. So yep, that's hands down the most amazing thing I've done... and I'm so glad I did!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think we all have so much that we can both learn and share with each other. I haven't tried couch surfing yet, but even all the incredible people I have met in hostels on my travels so far have had such inspirational stories to tell or different experiences and adventures that fuel your passion to visit as many places as possible while you have the opportunity to do it! Having grown up in a large, unconventional family I am able to cook up a storm and love playing card games and jamming music for entertainment rather than watching TV etc. If you really don't like my cooking (gasp) I would love to take you out for a meal, my treat!
