Hello! My name is Alice and most recently, I quit my career as a professional publicist because I no longer had passion for the work I was doing. I've been working in public relations for over 10 years and just needed a change. In this instance, a MAJOR life change and a big shift. Change is good, I hear? I'm trying to embrace it. Also a member of Girls Love Travel FB group #GLT!

I'm a Chinese-American who grew up in Los Angeles and have travelled around. I can still speak my native tongue, although my Cantonese is limited to being conversational. While international travel is nice, I would love to explore more of my country as well.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My latest IG post on some of the reasons WHY:

I believe in KARMA and the kindness of strangers because that is how I've chosen to live my life. My curiosity fuels my excitement for meeting new people, learning about their cultures and hearing their stories. Having the opportunity to bond with like-minded individuals from around the world during ANY journey is magical. I believe in connections and spreading positivity into the world and what better way to do it than on Couchsurfing?!

Please read my HOME section for thorough information before requesting to stay with me.

Interests

I'm a super, duper active person who loves to go on unique and interesting indoor/outdoor adventures. My curiosity drives my wanderlust and my obsession with food. I also love art exhibitions, especially a good street mural or three. My travel itinerary revolve around food and cool activities (music concerts, spontaneous events, bicycle ride, scenic jog, etc.)

"I work out to eat" basically defines me. I've always made it a point to cycle or run in the neighborhood where I'm visiting because I feel like that's the best way to explore the town.

In addition to cool activities and food, I'm also a concert junkie (music festivals, jazz clubs, etc.).

I also love to laugh. Whoever doesn't, suck. I can be a total goofball.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite band is Radiohead. If I had a chance to follow them on tour (whenever they go on another), I absolutely would. And if/when that happens, I hope you can host me during this fantasy dream of mine.

My music tastes are eclectic. I'm into all types of artists from Stromae, Bjork, Michael Jackson, Poor Righteous Teachers, Tame Impala, James Blake, Kendrick Lamar, Na$ and Purity Ring to Bonobo, DJ Kush, Feist, J-Dilla, Buena Vista Social Club, Gotan Project, Miguel, Radiohead, Nosaj Thing, Little Dragon and Nujabes. I've seen 15 out of the 20 artists listed here. I've seen 7 of the 14 two or more times. Let's catch a show!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sky dived in Lake Elsinore, California

Overnight cruise in Milford Sound, Fiordland National Park, South Island, New Zealand

Drove Canada's Icefields Parkway from Jasper to Banff National Parks

Canyon Swinging in Queenstown, South Island, New Zealand

Tinder date/adventure in Cannes, France

Hitchhiked (first time) in Waiheke Island, North Island, New Zealand

Teach, Learn, Share

More than likely, I make a pretty great partner in crime. Meaning, if you've been waiting to try a new restaurant, check out a new bar/lounge/sport/whatever, I'm usually up to accompany you unless it involves anything with heavy metal (no offense, it's just not my scene).

My goal in life is to teach, learn and share. Any and everything that I can learn from is fantastic to me.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share a lot of love and laughs. My expertise in publicity (by trade) can be a great tool to pick at. I also love to help out around the house whether it be cleaning or cooking (although I'm no chef). I can walk your dog (if you have one) as I have a puppy myself and adore other furry animals. I can share some cool stories with you from my travels and hometown. I can try to bring hosts something fun or unique from Los Angeles through prior coordination if they were interested.
