About Me

CURRENT MISSION
Why not!!

Through Helpx.com, I am volunteering at World Peace Cafe in the centre of Leicester. Thanks to this voluntary chance, I met some lifetime friends from various countries. It wasn’t what I had expected before. Interestingly, what they taught me is ‘Why Not!!’. They encouraged me to experience more new exciting things and step out of the comfort zone.

'Alice, could you leave a note with your phone number to the waiter'
'Why?'
'Why not!?'
'Okay. I'll give it a shot:)'

ABOUT ME
I am an undergraduate majoring in Business and Marketing at De Montfort University. I am keen on volunteering and travelling as a backpacker. My first travelling alone in Australia has amazed me and driven me to explore more in my life. I realise life is full of opportunities and we should catch or even create more chances for ourselves. Never give up exploring the world and challenging ourselves.

PHILOSOPHY
Keep love in your heart. A life without it is like a sunless garden where the flowers are dead.

Every time I travelled in a city where I haven't been and I knew nobody and I got lost, local people or other tourists always helped me. Even a few of them would invite me to have meals together just for the joy to talk with me. I really appreciate people's kindness and sincerity during travelling. Once I own my house and settle down in a city, I will definitely be a host of Csers. I would like to pass these love towards the world or at least people who I meet. Loving others is not only a way of giving but receiving.

Where does your worldview come from before you have viewed the world.
I love this saying as well, simple but straightforward. We can access information on the internet everyday, but never the same and unforgettable as we experience it in the flesh. As a Chinese saying goes, travelling brings about far greater benefit than mere book learning.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am a big fan of travelling, even though I just have been to a few places before, including Tibet, Australia and several cities in China. Many friends shared me with their amazing experiences through Couchsurfing and strongly recommended me to have a try. That's why I am here.

I am passionate about meeting new friends and love to exchange culture or experience with local people. Knowing a city through the local's perspective must be a fantastic thing. I would like to host Csers back once I settle in a city.

Interests

Once I am interested in something, I would do whatever I can to achieve it. Passionate about chocolate, currently I am volunteering at the best chocolate shop, Cocoa Amore, in Leicester. Skills and knowledge I have acquired from this shop are much more valuable than the payment that I could get from other part-time. If you interest, I could make chocolate cakes for you. Same as Chinese food, but I have to say I am not very good at cooking Chinese food :)

I enjoy reading detective novels, especially by Japanese authors. Finding the final answer through clues offered by the author is kinda exciting for me.

Cycling is more like a travelling alternative for me. Travelling over cycling sometime can be the best option for me as it saves money and time. More importantly, you could cycle to the places that a car cannot drive you to.

Volunteering is another interest as it is a way for me to make contribution to the society and help others.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cycling from Chengdu to Lhasa, about 2200 km, within 24 days.

Spending two weeks on the top of mountain in Cairns, Australia.

Volunteering at a local chocolate shop for more than a year and learn how to make flavoured chocolate :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I could teach you Mandarin, Cantonese and basic Japanese if you are interested in.

I adore new things and love to learn more to develop myself.

I am fond of sharing my perspectives with others. If you fancy Chinese culture, then it would be my pleasure to share with you that. I was born and lived in southern China while I used to study in the north of China for two years, thus knowing culture in different regions varies significantly.

What I Can Share with Hosts
