About Me

Hello ☺️ I'm on my first long term travel, and equal parts terrified and excited! I'm coming from Scotland where I've lived for the past 6 years, now taking a career break from clinical psychology and making a loop around the world 💃

As a solo queer female traveller, I'm fantastically grateful for the kindness I've been shown by everyone I've met thus far, and as a Pisces/total softie I've got a little emotional about it in my private moments - I love this whole couchsurfing business! 😅 I learned about couchsurfing just prior to this trip so haven't had the opportunity to host yet, but fully plan to on my return - flatmate already approves! 😁

I'd describe myself as outgoing but respectful, adventurous but laid-back, slightly odd but endearingly so I'm told?🤞 Im a fan of dark humour and work in the dark side of humanity, but I choose to be cheerful and appreciate the goodness and both big and small wonders of life. I'm also passionate about the environment and all branches of intersectional social activism; we can appreciate the joys in life while still recognising the harms and striving to make a better world for us all!

I'd love to spend some time with the people I stay with (as one of the major pluses of couchsurfing over hotels/hostels!) but of course understand folk will have their own plans/demands, and have been told that I'm an excellent house guest (humble-brag 🤭).

I tend to have a vague list of "must-do's" for each place I visit, that I can entertain myself with but still be flexible and up for what might come up organically.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to immerse myself in everywhere I go and meet the people who live there. Couch surfing is such a generous and beautiful way to be in a place and with people authentically - wherever possible, I'm hoping to travel this way and make real connections all over the world. What could be better?!

Interests

I like to joke that I'm easily pleased - I find just about anything interesting when someone is passionate about it, and I'm up to try (almost) anything once!

More specifically:
-I did archery for 7 years, though I doubt I'll get the chance while out and about!
-mythology and monsters (I have dragon and Kelpie tattoos!)
-music and poetry
-DnD and other delightful nerd shit
-house plants
-going out dancing or pubbing
-I got into K-pop in the pandemic, I am not ashamed ✌️
-favourite movies are probably The Princess Bride, Kingsman, True Lies, many Marvel's...
-favourite book is probably The Name of the Wind

Music, Movies, and Books

Low-key a massive geek - I love fantasy and Sci-fi, adventure, ironically given my career I'm not a fan of horror or true crime..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

A manta ray once hit me in the face when I was snorkeling? Turns out they didn't get the memo about not touching the other sea life.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can talk about psychology for days, if the human condition interests you! I've specialised in forensic clinical psychology for the bulk of my career, working in a max secure prison most recently, which luckily I've found most people are interested enough for me to babble about for a while 😅 I love learning from others' perspectives and experiences, tell me about your world, please?

What I Can Share with Hosts

This feels hard to answer without sounding like a twat 😅 I suppose I'm kind and friendly and interested in others, I love to have a laugh with others. And I know a lot of fun facts about many many things so can share those! And I'm not bad at DIY either if anything needs a second pair of hands?
