About Me

Currently I live in Greece - I moved here in the spring of 2017 to volunteer with grassroots humanitarian organisations working with the increasing number of refugees placed in military run camps across Northern Greece.

I love being with people, writing, reading, listening and dancing to music, trying to protect this one shared planet and organising to resist and demand social justice, I am a keen cyclist, vegetarian, I love music and dancing.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Cannot host currently as moving around a bit while I settle in Greece. But I am happy to meet up over good food, to share tips about the area, and I love to surf whenever I travel! Couchsurfing brings a wonderful sense of the interconnectivity and shared humanity in this one world.

Interests

A blend of study, travel and adventures. Reading, thinking, arguing - to talk and debate big ideas and politics. Laughing, cooking, eating with friends. Music is key to happiness - to listen to, to sing along to, and to dance to. I get my soul and peace from being outdoors and the sunshine - to hiking, walking, cycling, wild swimming and running. I love to travel, to live in new cultures, to meet new people and to try new foods.

'Afoot and light hearted I take to the open road,
Healthy, free, the world before me,
The long brown path before me leading wherever I choose.'

Music, Movies, and Books

Particular favourites are into the wild, the piano, american beauty, almost famous, life is beautiful, big fish and the darjeeling limited.

Love electronic and deep house music, as well as classical, rock, old indie, disco, funk, soul.

Phillip Pullman's Dark Materials Trilogy, 'Rebecca' by Daphne DuMaurier, Fitzgerald's 'Tender is the Night' and Steinbeck's 'The Grapes of Wrath'.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Waking at 5am at Annapurna Base Camp in Nepal to the most striking, panoramic white peaks and blue skies after a 30 hour white-out blizard.

Sitting by the Ganges in Varanasi, surrounded by thousands of euphoric people as the sun was totally eclipsed. The colours of a million different saris, the silence of the birds as the sun temporarily went out.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can do an uncanny impersonation of owls.

And on a serious note - I love to teach, learn and share experiences of environmental activism, of travelling in India and Nepal, of sleeping in Hammocks on Colombia's Caribbean coast, of social justice, equality. To talk about Syria and Palestine and how privileged we are to be born with a passport that allows us free movement.

I also make a mean lentil soup that I will gladly share with hungry mouths.

What I Can Share with Hosts

A welcoming smile, a tour of the city, good drinking holes for delicious food and drink!
