Why I’m on Couchsurfing

An outgoing individual with the drive to meet people from different culture and language, and sharing my experience as an exchange student, seasoned cabin crew and avid traveller!

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Prior to couchsurfing, I have hosted several Asian and European friends and friends of friends in Singapore and in Zurich when I was doing my exchange semester. Of which some of them I have never met before and became really good friends! In return, they opened their homes to me and I am really grateful.

It was an awesome experience meeting new people through my hosts and also knowing the city better. So I'm open to surfing in more coaches during my travels with complete strangers instead of bunking in with my overseas friends' place all the time!

My boyfriend, Luke, introduced me to couchsurfing and I have never turned back!

Six summers ago, I couchsurfed in Australia when I was doing a last minute solo trip to Sydney, Gold Coast.

Recently, Luke and I couchsurfed in Bueno Aires in Argentina, Maldonado and Pablo Colonia in Uruguay, and Guayaquil in Ecuador.

In Singapore, we have hosted a guy from Heidelberg, Germany, a couple from New York, United States and a mother-and-daughter duo from St. Petersburg, Russia.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Backpacked across Indonesia for three weeks and Europe for six months during my student exchange. And I have completed a six-month odyssey in South America with my fiancé.

Travelled across 6 continents for work and visited local sights. And made friends all around the world and still keep in touch with them till today!

Scaled on active volcanoes Mount Merapi and Mount Bromo in Indonesia, and the Huayna Picchu to have a panoramic view of Machu Picchu. Stayed at a cave hostel in Artenara in Spain.

Snowshoe-hiked, built an igloo and bobsled down the Flumserberg mountain in Switzerland!

Sand boarded down the Death Valley in San Pedro de Atacama, cycled to the Valley de La Luna in Chile. Mountain biked down the World's Deadliest Road near La Paz.

Visited the Safari park in South Africa and played with baby hyenas and lion cubs! Horseback riding in the Kruger Animal Reserve Park alongside with Rhinoceros and Giraffes!

Snorkelled and scuba-dived in Bali, Sibu, Tioman, Gili, Dunedin, Maldives, Galapagos Islands, Santa Lucia (Cuba) & Maui (Hawaii).

Elephant trekking through the jungles and sea kayaking along Krabi islands in Thailand and between the fiords of Milford Sounds in New Zealand.

Trekked through the jungles in Selva for 3D2N to swim with pink dolphins, caymans and piranhas, and even searched for Anacondas during the Pampas expedition in Bolivia's Amazonas basin.

Paraglided at Gran Canaria, above Las Palmas beach in Canary Islands, Spain. Took a hot air balloon ride in Cappadocia, Turkey.

Bungee jumped in Queenstown city and also skydived across the Glenorchy. Took a luge ride down the Great Wall of China.

Took a thrilling helicopter ride over active Volcano Kilauea in one of the Hawaii islands in the recent 2018 eruption during my honeymoon.

White water rafting and canyoning across water falls, river streams at Baños town in Ecuador.

Looking forward to more crazy adventures like ice trekking on glaciers in Patagonia and ascending to the Mount Everest base camp.

Teach, Learn, Share

Coming from a multi-cultural country like Singapore and having stayed abroad, I am well-versed in meeting people from different countries and conversing in various languages!

I cook really good Thai, Chinese, Japanese, European and South American fusion food! All my friends can attest to this! From the house parties, potlucks, picnics, Christmas dinners and Chinese New Year open house that I have hosted in the past on a yearly basis.
