About Me

Im a wife, a mom of two teenagers, I have a big vegetable garden, chickens and love to connect with what is local - which means I favor residents and their homes, instead of hotels and their staff. Its just so fun to start as strangers and quickly make connections.

I have an interest in rivers, migratory fish and the ways that people connect to the natural environment they live in. Summer 2017 I cycled along the Rhine River from its source in the high mountains of Switzerland toward its connection with the sea. Along my route I met with people about their impressions and experience with the river. My theme is, "Show me your river!" I promoted World Fish Migration Day on April 21, 2018.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to meet people and learn about the places I'm visiting, the history of riverside towns, the ways people enjoy and associate with the natural environment. I am usually traveling by bicycle and serve as a host for WarmShowers. Most of my couchsurfing has been during international travel, but I like the idea of doing it in the USA, even in New England, so I can keep building connections and reinforcing my belief that people are kind, trustworthy, curious and interesting.

Interests

Migratory fish and the ways that rivers are managed to allow them to return from the sea to lakes and ponds for spawning - dam removal, fish passage tools.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like acoustic music and may even learn to play an instrument some day. I like to read about the environment and stories of how people settled in a new place or changed their lifestyle from urban to rural.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Took 8 years to cycle across the USA with my husband. We frequently host touring cyclists at our house and their stories and company enrich us every time.

Teach, Learn, Share

A belief that we do not need to be rich in money to lead a rich life.
The more skills, friends and trust we have the fewer things, work and worry we need.
There is no more essential duty than returning kindness received. -Cicero
