About Me

French translator who would love to meet new people and share about life and my interests.
I'm a very open-minded vegetarian cat lady -- my cat means the world to me.
Slightly obsessed bookworm and series bingewatcher.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

To meet new people, share and learn new things.

I'm not much of a globe-trotter, but when I decide to go on an adventure, I like to do it properly by meeting as many people as I can. Spending time with the locals (long term or newly arrived) is, in my opinion, the best way to make the most of my trips.

Music, Movies, and Books

I loooove arts in general, and music is my go-to in every situation. I have a knack for folk music as well as rock (in all its variations), but my tastes in music aren't limited to a particular genre. I like to sing, but you might not hear it because I am shy.... I would also like to spend more time with my ukulele and learn to play it properly some day.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

You tell me... :'D
More seriously, I think it's adopting my cat from a shelter (I would love to adopt even more in the future!!)
... and maybe finding the strength to live abroad?? I'm a terrible homebird who --paradoxically-- wants to see the world. So I gradually moved away from mum and dad, living in Strasbourg (FR) and then Calne (UK).
I would love to do more in the future, especially get involved in organizations and causes close to my heart like LGBT+ rights, feminism, and animal wellbeing.

Teach, Learn, Share

Teaching is not my forte, but I sure love to share!!
I've been a French teaching assistant in an English boarding school for a year now, and I loved sharing my love of the French language and culture with my students.
I can teach you a bit of French if we meet someday!

I love to learn all sorts of things, from random trivia to very specific things (my Master project was on a postcolonial novel set in the time of the Spanish conquista as seen through the eyes of a Moroccan slave). I often enroll in MOOCs now that I'm out of university because learning has always been a big part of me. I read books almost all the time... :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

If you want a taste of my very special cuisine (ie. mixing ingredients until it smells -and tastes- good), then I'm your woman! I can cook French dishes such as ratatouille -is that a cliché- and hearty dishes like potées, but also dishes from around the world (my fav are risottos, dahls and curries).

I can also teach you some French (I'm always happy to speak French with enthusiastic people) and talk about the importance of translation in our world, but you'll have to stop me because I won't be able to stop.
