About Me

I'm a recent college graduate who has a thirst for adventure and a deep love for nature. I'm very reserved, deeply caring, a little bit socially awkward because small talk is difficult for me, and easily amused - especially by puns and wordplays. I'm secular and vegetarian, and I try to be as easygoing as possible about my controversial beliefs no matter how strongly I may hold them.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm moving to Portland and I'd love to meet new people along the way to add even more adventure to my trip.

I can't wait to host guests myself! I plan to do so as soon as I'm settled, pending my future roommates' approval. :)

Interests

I enjoy reading books about economics, psychology, and food; going on bike rides; playing with dogs; meeting new people and learning their stories; and lazing around watching Netflix sometimes. Once I relocate I plan to spend much more time doing outdoor activities like hiking, plus hosting couchsurfers myself.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love artists like Bon Iver, Iron & Wine, and Roo Panes, plus the xx, Haim, and Lorde. I've also been on a bit of a funk kick lately, and there's always room for some good pop (present or past) or soundtrack music in my day.

I'm always up for watching lighthearted movies like Pitch Perfect and Mean Girls, but I enjoy more intense movies like The Shining, Gladiator, and A Beautiful Mind as well.

When I bingewatch something on Netflix, it's usually a sitcom like Parks & Rec, Kimmy Schmidt, or The Office, though I always make sure I have time for Game of Thrones.

I haven't read as much as I'd like lately, but some of my favorite books are Freakonomics, Amy Poehler's Yes Please, The Kite Runner, and Huck Finn.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, it's a work in progress, but I'm packing up my life in my car and moving across the country to a city where I only have one good friend. As far as things I've already done are concerned... I went to Costa Rica for a month and I've visited almost half of the states in the union, so I'm well on my way to completing my bucket list item of visiting every state.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'd love to learn more about what life is like outside of my southeastern-US bubble. I can help teach what life in that bubble is like, plus any random trivia I happen to remember at the time and some rudimentary workings of the American government, especially in regards to the First Amendment. I'd love to share different stories about our lives.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share bits of my hometown culture both from Destin and from Auburn, Alabama.
