About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I explore the spaces and places of human interaction, from wandering big cities to meditating on secluded mountain tops.

ABOUT ME

I am exploring the spaces and places of humanity: traveling, reading, researching, lecturing, meeting people and - above all - exploring! I am always interested in people and places - especially where they connect in design and architecture. I consider myself a pioneering innovative internationalist, working in Government and Non-Government institutions focused positive social impact and public interest. I am primarily interested in topics concerning people and their built environment, a subject area that extends from art installations to international development. In this way, I find myself writing on the nexus between war and peace, destruction and design, conflict and community. These spaces in between - in between activism and academics, practice and policy, builder and building - seem the most relevant in today's multicultural, cosmopolitan, interdisciplinary world where what we build (and what we destroy) come to define who we are. Exploring this via people-,city-, and landscapes is my passion and raison d'être!

PHILOSOPHY

The world is made up of a constellations of people, places, ideas, and experiences… My passion is to connect the dots - looking at the world from a variety of perspectives.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love seeing cities through the eyes of people that live them, and welcome the chance to meet like-minded individuals when I travel.

Interests

I love city and country - from art and architecture to quiet lakes and forests. Any activity that includes water is fine with me! I swim, snorkel, fish, dive, kayak, and allays looking for more things to do! Looking to add surfing to my list.

Music, Movies, and Books

For books, I mix Margaret Atwood, David Sedaris, e. e. cummings, Guy Gavriel Kay, and Charles deLint… As for music, I am always looking for new artists and sounds, but I stick to jazz and indie.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have trekked across India doing post-disaster housing assessments, worked as a deck-hand on commercial fishing boats, spend a sumer studying in San Francisco, seen the sun set on the Mountain tops of BC, found perfect snowflake, played underwater football with a sea cucumber… and learned how to make the best apple cider from scratch!

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a creative cook, great writer and copy editor, full of esoteric and fun facts, and have TONS of research experience in human security and community development. I can also quote Disney cartoons!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I have plenty of stories, make a mean enchilada, and love to laugh.
