Teach, Learn, Share

When I was in Nicaragua, I jumped on a travelling school bus that had been converted into a hostel. We were making our way to a local surf beach and were heading up an extremely steep hill when a stalled truck forced us to stop in the middle. And when that bus stopped, it stopped for GOOD. Blocking the entire road and on the verge of sliding into the line of cars stopped behind us, we brainstormed. We were concerned with getting more fuel, charging the battery etc. The man from the stalled truck started digging a road around us so that other beach-goers could get up the hill. We told him that there was no need; we would get fuel and be out of there in 15 minutes. He responded by saying, "When my car is stuck in the snow in your country, then you can tell me what to do. You are in my country now." Right he was. It took us 6 hours to get out of there and his road allowed hundreds of people to get to the beach.
