About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To become a responsible, dedicated, disciplined and conscious young adult without murdering my inner child. Learn how to write calligraphy with a carpenter's pencil.

ABOUT ME

Hello! My name is Alicia. I was born and raised in Guadalajara, also known as "the tapatía pearl", this city is the land of mariachi, tequila, pozole and women with beautiful eyes.

I'm the head graphic designer at Deste Estudio; a collaborative design studio based in Guadalajara, conformed by a sophisticated and eccentric architect, a blond, minimalistic, cat-dog-lover industrial designer, another industrial designer who's ringtone is the main theme of Zelda and is a big fan of Adventure Time (so do I) and me.

MY IDENTITY CAPITAL:

· Brand and visual design.
· Analog and digital illustration.
· Photography.
· 3D modeling and rendering.
· Good at the kitchen ;)
· Tolerant with children.

ANOTHER IDENTITY FEATURES (non-capitalizable ones)

· Feminist ( Or better to say gender equality defendant )
· I can dance Salsa.
· I can do mayonnaise.
· I have nice hand letter.
· I'm a geography nerd.

PHILOSOPHY

"Respect to the rights of others is peace"
- Benito Juárez.

"Il faut cultiver notre jardin"
(We must cultivate our garden")
- Voltaire.

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC:

I do listen almost to everything. I consider my taste in music non-discriminatory and always open to listen new things. And old things too. I couldn't say I have a favorite gender, but some of the artist I do enjoy to listen lately are José Gonzales, Kendrick Lamar, Vampire Weekend, Jamie XX ... too many!

I guess my top favorite that I will listen until my hair turns gray are Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, Los Panchos and Eydie Gorme, Pink Martini, Dave Brubeck, Stan Getz, Chet Baker. Too Many!

Everything changed since streaming was invented. Less limits. And I love it :)

MOVIES:

I love the twisted, dark-humored, bittersweet, eccentric and colorful stories and characters of Pedro Almodovar's films.
I cherish the drama and messy human relationships of Woody Allen.
I enjoy every and each single film that Wes Anderson has done, and will do.
I like science and biographical documentaries from interesting humans. A lot.
Pixar movies will always make me sigh.

Favorite titles:

The salt of the earth.
Akira Kurosawa's Dreams.
Dogville.
Dead poets society.
Boyhood.
Whiplash.
Her.
To Kill a Mockingbird.
Singin' in the Rain.
American Beauty.
The Act of Killing.
Bridget Jone's Diary with a can of ice cream.
The good, the bad and the ugly.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Take a plane for the first time, travel outside the country for the first time, travel outside the continent for the first time, speak english with foreigners for the first time, visit 5 countries for the first time, try out Couchsurfing for the first time, and lots of firsts more! all in the same trip! :)

Teach, Learn, Share

KNOWLEDGE I CAN SHARE:

Digital and analog photography.
How to use: Photoshop, Premiere, Lightroom, InDesign, Illustrator, Sketch-Up, V-Ray.
I have some knowledge on urban horticulture.
I can teach you how to build an apartment sized wall garden.
How to construct vases, pots, and many other things with concrete.
I can teach you how to use an Hula-Hop the right way.

LEARN:

I believe we learn, we teach even without the intention of it, and we get to know ourselves better through the differences we have from other people. And the most important, we build empathy.

I am open to treasure everything anyone can share:

I would like to learn how to play an instrument, or how to make a traditional italian frittata, or alternative ways to take off a bottle cap.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer culinary exchange; lots of mexican delights from recipes passed from my grandma, to my mother, to me. And also some of them from youtube of course.
I can help repairing things around the house. I love to fix things and D.I.Y. home projects.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Germany, Hungary, Mexico, Sweden, United States
