About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Explore, dream, discover

ABOUT ME

I'm a big city French girl happily married to a small town American boy which ended up with a tiny French-American girl who joined us in April 2015. It definitely gets interesting sometimes but it is all for the best.
I am, surprisingly enough, a huge travel fan. I am pretty much up to anything, and I am never tired of it. In between two traveling sessions, I eat (and I love it), sleep whenever I can, check a few exhibitions, go out with my friends, bore any foreigner who encounters my path with constant questions, have massive crush on shoes and dresses and dream of far far away lands.
Steve is a music geek who produces, composes, sings, plays guitar, piano and drums. He also likes traveling, yay. And he talks, a lot, about basically any subject you get him started on.
Lydia doesn't care about much besides eating, sleeping and generally being entertained.

PHILOSOPHY

Embrace life. How original is that.

"Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed
by the things that you didn't do than by the ones you
did do. So throw off the bowlines. Sail away from the
safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails.
Explore. Dream. Discover."

Mark Twain

"Be yourself. Everybody else is already taken."

Oscar Wilde

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Hosted in Paris for a while, had to stop because of some landlord related troubles, moved to another apartment, started hosting again A LOT, moved to Chicago, moved to New Hampshire, ready to start all over again!
Surfed in Morocco in april 2009, in California in august 2009, in Stockholm in november 2009, in Berlin and in Amsterdam in april of 2010 with some amazing people.
Found some great traveling partners in Morocco and in the US.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

So far (april 2010), I hosted 32 people, surfed with 7 others, and met a bunch of others for drinks, parties, and generally good time.

Interests

I like pretty things. And strange things. But pretty things always work, whether it concerns clothes, art, places, you name it. And I love discovering new stuff. So if you are passionate about something, you will find a hungry listener in me.
I have a passion for the small things in life: sun, flowers, candles, butterflies (hey, I'm a girl!), cool street art, music, food, children, baby animals, and the list goes on and on for ever. I tend to react like a 6 -year-old, and I can be annoyingly happy for no reasons. Be warned.
Right now, we are really into healthy stuff, alternative education, this kind of stuff. Basically, we are turning into hippies according to my dad. Whatever that means for a girl who never travels without at least a pair of high heels in her backpack.

Music, Movies, and Books

Lots of movies, lots of music (except rap, sorry for the fans), lots of books. If you like any of those, tell me about it, because I will want to check it out.

Actually, I have a pet project... When you come over, please bring one of your favorite book with you. It has to be one you read and loved, preferably in English so I and other people can read it. Leave your trace on it, underline your favorite part, write in the margin, anything. Then you can choose one from my own library and take it with you. Most of the books my surfers gave me burned because of a fire at my parents' place this summer, and they are the thing I missed the most. Please, help me start a new collection...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Left my friends, my home, my beloved Paris and everything I had for a guy. Thank God, it turned out pretty well in the end. The whole home birth thing was also pretty exhilarating.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach to cross a street in Paris. And no, it is not as easy as it sounds. But maybe you should avoid using this technique anywhere else. Just in case.
If you can teach me photography or knitting, I will love you forever.
Chances are pretty high that we will be brewing a beer in our bedroom, and we are always eager to learn anything new about that (that's easy, we are just beginners).
