Hi, my name is Alida and I am a 26 year old South African from Cape Town with a passion for travelling and experiencing new cultures.

I have lived and worked in the US in Washington, D.C. for two years as an Au Pair, I spent one year teaching English in South Korea, I've volunteered on an organic eco-retreat farm in Ireland and am currently traveling as an au pair again, but in Rotterdam.
I definitely prefer spending a decent amount of time in the destinations to which I am traveling 😅

I like to travel solo, but to meet up with locals while in a new city or country. I'm a bit of an introvert, so this is a nice platform to meet other people who are open to hanging out and exploring together.

Taking part in tree planting festivals in South Africa ... Such a great experience to give a little bit back to the earth after we have taken so much from it 💚

General traveling experiences:
Had the opportunity to visit the White House a couple of times which was amazing. A great experience was at Jungfraujoch in Switzerland!
And more recently, visiting the Aran Islands on the West Coast of Ireland was exhilarating!

I am very passionate about environmental protection and sustainability. In everything that I do, I try to leave as small of a carbon footprint as possible. This is difficult when I am flying frequently, but I like to make up for it in every other aspect of my life.
I am more than willing to share on my experiences and tips on how to reduce one's carbon footprint and take steps towards a zero-waste lifestyle.
