Overview
About Me
I am a 23 year old Canadian travelling abroad with my friend. I am originally from Winnipeg but just recently moved out to Calgary. The two of us decided as a graduation present to ourselves, to backpack through Southeast Asia for 3 months.
We are very fun people and are always looking for the most genuine experience wherever we go. We love doing the touristy things of course, but a big part of what makes travelling so important to us is interacting with locals, finding the special nooks and crannies of every city, and we love learning how to cook.
So far we have traveled in Thailand, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, and Indonesia and are looking forward to adding Singapore to the list before finally returning home.
A couple years prior to this trip, I had the privilege of being able to backpack through Europe for 2 months. Afterwards I went and joined my friend in Germany where I worked as an English teacher in a bilingual kindergarten.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I decided to try couch surfing after a friend I met in Thailand recommended it to us. As much as my friend and I had been enjoying our trip so far, we were really only getting the tourist side of things. There was something missing from our experience and we realized it was the lack of local interaction.
The idea of getting to know the city and the people in the city was much more intriguing to us than just seeing the main attractions (even though we still would like to see those).
Interests
Since I was quite young, I've been interested in many things (most pertaining to the arts). I enjoy Taekwondo as my contrasting activity to the others. I've danced since I was 3 ranging from Highland dance to Hip Hop. I play bass guitar, piano and flute (I also enjoy singing). These things later led to my enjoyment and participation in musical theatre. I'm a reader, as I mentioned above, but one of my main loves is writing.

Music, Movies, and Books
Though I have a wide taste in music, my preferences tend to lean more towards Celtic, folk and the oldies. However you can find anything on my iPod from Turkish music, to pop, to punk, to funk and the list goes on.
I am an avid reader, and enjoy exploring many of the worlds authors have created. I enjoy fantasy, fiction, biographies, anything informative in the realm of science or history, but my go to since it first came out has always been Harry Potter (I hope this won't ruin your opinion of me if you're not a Harry Potter nerd :P).
Teach, Learn, Share
I have recently graduated and am now a fully qualified dance teacher. I teach ballet, jazz and musical theatre as my main subjects, but also have experience in other dance forms.
One thing I love about being able teach dance, is that dance is something that happens all over the world. I am able to take my knowledge and my love of working with kids (or really anyone) and spread my love for it wherever I go.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a kind and considerate individual, who loves to share stories, music and ideas. I'm always up for a good talk or debate, and just generally interested in the interests of others. Getting to know you. I would also love to teach you a little about my own country Canada, and all that it means to me.
