About Me

I am a civil engineer and I'm working for Turkish Airlines. I love travelling and thanks to my job I have a great opportunity to travel. I love learning languages, and meeting people from all over the world. I am living in İstanbul with my family, my home is little far from the historical center of istanbul (1-2 hours with public transport depending on the traffic). My office is in Turkish Airlines HQ which is next to the Atatürk International Airport. I am interested in history, and I constantly read books about my own country and the countries that I want to visit.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I want to travel as a " traveller" not as a "tourist". I want to go beyond the classical tourist routes, avoid typical tourist trap places, immerse my self in the culture of the country that I am visiting, see the way how " the real people" live in their country, and have friends from all around the world that I will have contact even long after I return home.

Interests

I am currently learning Spanish and I have reached B1 (intermediate) level by myself. I would love to visit Latin America. I love indigenous cultures

Music, Movies, and Books

I am spending my freetime (at home, in the bus etc.) reading books about latin america. Right now I am reading "Born in Blood and Fire: A Concise History of Latin America" by J. C. Chasteen and "The Open Veins of Latin America" by E. Galeano.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Travelling it self is the most amazing thing that anyone can do. It broadens your horizon, you become more and more open minded, you start to appreciate the diversity of our planet. You see how rapidly we are exploiting the resources of our planet and feel the necessity to do something about it. In short travelling makes a person more "human" by allowing him to discover him/herself.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach a little bit about the history and culture of my country.
