About Me

I spend my time chasing the suggestions of my friends, seeing live music, and programming various projects.

I love walking. If you do too, I will walk around wherever we happen to be with you.

I want to live indefinitely, and to exceed natural human capacity in most things. Naturally, there's a label for folk of this sort: transhumanist. I just hope we survive the singularity.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'd like strangers to crash with me. I'd like strangers to show me what they love about the places they live.

I've crashed with a few and hosted a few. The most salient traits shared by these experiences are live music/art performances and bars.

Interests

I like to dance. I hang out with friends at Effective Altruist meetups. I go to concerts and listen to music a lot when I'm home. I compose software.

Intellectual interests include economics, statistics, machine learning/AI, epistemology, ethics, logic, linguistics, and psychology. Really, anything there is to know. I just don't list physics, chemistry, biology, etc because I haven't pursued them much, though I wish I would.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like indie rock, hip hop, electronic/ambient/house, jazz, metal, classical, modern chamber music, lo-fi, experimental, pop, etc.

I read a decent deal of non-fiction, mostly technical stuff or popular social science. My fiction tastes tend to lean toward social science fiction, eg Ursula Le Guin or Charles Stross. My favorite is still Sandman.
