About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To see the world and make new friends

ABOUT ME

I recently moved to beautiful Barcelona to teach history at an American international school. This is my second international teaching gig, as I taught for two years in Fukuoka, Japan a few years ago. I've also lived in Madagascar and the UK (Glasgow and London). I'm from the San Francisco Bay Area but I call Portland, Oregon home. I love traveling because I love exploring new places, challenging myself, meeting new people, trying new food, and discovering awesome things about the world!

PHILOSOPHY

Treat people like you want to be treated, respect this beautiful earth, remember every day how lucky I am.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have hosted a bit in the past and look for couchsurfing opportunities first when I plan trip by myself.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I attended a couchsurfing event in Tokyo and enjoyed meeting locals and travellers, so I decided to open up my tatami room in Fukuoka to the occasional couchsurfer. I couldn't host when I lived in Portland because I had housemates. I surfed a bit in Eastern Europe and had a great experience!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first thing that comes to mind, after traveling for two months this summer (2009), was my visit to Xiahe, Gansu Province, China. Foreigners were forbidden, or so the ticket agents at the bus station said, but I managed to make it there and spent three wonderful days with a great community of backpackers and monks.

Teach, Learn, Share

Ask me anything about history and I'll do my best to explain it. If I can't, I will definitely look it up and get back to you...

Countries I’ve Visited

Albania, Australia, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Cambodia, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Dominican Republic, Estonia, France, Germany, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Laos, Latvia, Lithuania, Malaysia, Mexico, Montenegro, Netherlands, Panama, Poland, Russian Federation, Serbia, Singapore, South Korea, Spain, Switzerland, Thailand, Turkey, Viet Nam
