ABOUT ME
My husband (Britt) and I have been married for 8 years after meeting in college, and are currently living in Beijing with our three very young children: Abhisneha (3), Gideon (2), Saffron (<1). If you don't like early mornings, our home is not terribly recommended). We love traveling and living abroad, enjoy meeting new people and helping folks out. I am happy and friendly, and I enjoy life in general, and Britt enjoys sports (he was a pitcher in baseball, he ran cross-country, and played tennis in college), bar trivia nights, and all things intellectual. We also have a dog (Maeby) and Cat (Simon).
PHILOSOPHY
It's your thing, do what you want to do.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
We like to host folks, but have been taking a break for a little while due to career changes and kids.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We love hosting. We've hosted lots of people, and we've really enjoyed hearing their stories and making new friends from across the globe. Unfortunately, because the season of our lives have changed, we are no longer able to offer a place to stay on a regular basis, but feel free to send us a message and we can see if it works.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love movies (NOT scary movies), and I watch TV more than I should admit to. We're both addicted to the Colbert Report on Comedy Central, Arrested Development, Flight of the Conchords, Mad Men, and the Wire. Britt and I both enjoy reading quite a bit, and Britt loves music (mostly old rock and roll, and some early/mid 90's stuff).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Backpacked across Western China, made loads of friends, saw amazing sites, celebrated Ramadan with a family, stayed in a yurt settlement in the mountains and with a really cool Uygher family in the desert. It completely changed our perspective on life.
Presently working on an international adoption spanning three countries. It's much easier said than done, and we appreciate all the people who have helped us along the way. It's taken years, we've made some progress, and we're hopeful that it will all work out soon.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'm great at bargaining (handy in China). I love to impress folks with my mad skills in that area, and am happy to show a beginning bargainer the ropes.
Britt speaks Mandarin fluently and his reading skills are impressive for a "lao wai" (foreigner). He can help you find you way around the city (or around China), and knows how to find the good travel deals. Britt likes to find places "off the beaten path" and will gladly share his insights and suggestions with you.
