ABOUT ME

I have four phenomenal kids that I thank God for everyday! I have a life in Anchorage, AK that has been briefly interrupted courtesy of the Coast Guard. I have been called on active duty through mid-August. In Anchorage I had multiple responsiblities, including a full time job as a single mom and career woman, in addition to being a member of the USCG Reserves. While in Juneau, aside from work and studying, I have little to no responsibilities. Instead of walking around with me head held low and my heart aching from missing my brood, I chose to send them to my parents where I know they are well loved and cared for, Skype them often, and seize all opportunities to explore myself and this beautiful place I call my home away from home for the summer.

PHILOSOPHY

I figure life is like this => You have less than 5% control of what happens in your life, the other 95% makes no promises to treat you well. On the flip side, 100% of the time you have 100% control how you respond to every event that occurs in your life. Take hold of that and ensure that you respond to situations in such a manner, that even if it's not always pretty, you can still hold your head high when you look in the mirror. HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The journey of a thousand miles began...one step at a time. Here's my first step...I hope to meet fellow CSurfers in the area, host while I am here, and perhaps even find opportunities to be hosted in the surrounding Juneau areas.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

There is an article written by Tau Jonty Braun titled Memoires of a CouchSurfer that really caught my eye. While reading it I became more enticed by the idea. After checking out the site, I knew I wanted become involved. Face it, Alaska is a place that some people wait their whole lives to see. I would consider myself lucky if I had the opportunity to enhance someone's trip just by simply showing them around the place that I now call home!

Interests

I am interested in exploring life and all it has to offer. I enjoy meeting people and broadening my horizons. I spent three weeks creating a bucket list of 155 items and aspire to knock each item off and I dare not say, "one at a time".

Music, Movies, and Books

I love good chic flick/romance comedy movies. Enjoy a variety of music and intriguing books. On a recent plane ride I read The Shack and greatly enjoyed it.
