I'm a set designer - I used to draft scenery for film and TV but I'm currently making a career change. During the recent 7 month actors and writers strike I started making pottery. What was a temporary hobby turned into an obsession - you can find me covered in clay most days of the week. Working at the wheel and throwing clay is one of the most gratifying experiences because with the right amount of focus and concentration one can make a vessel (both a practical object and an art object) from something that looks like a mass of formless sludge. Glazing ceramics is less gratifying because its a constant guessing process and the results will always be unexpected and sometimes disappointing, if and only if one has expectations of what it aught to be. So, in a way, ceramics is a metaphor for life and and often teaches you to cope with all sorts of disappointments and surprises. I'm hoping it can one day become a profession or a small business. I think the intensity of the film industry caused me to experience some degree of a burnout and to cope I've delved into the world of meditation, kundalini yoga, researching altered states of consciousness, and learning about Zen and Tibetan buddhism. I am still a new practitioner and would love to create a dialogue with others. I am very interested in practicing lucid dreaming and would love to hear about the techniques others use.

We are living in a complicated time right now. Many people believe its a transitional period marked by radical change into a new era of thought and way of being. Its not a coincidence that a popular and beginner friendly podcast (one of my favorites) called 'Philosophize This!' just did a 3 episode special on Anarchy. I'm a novice in philosophical thought, therefore I would also love to hear other people's takes on where we are all headed.

My very good friend, now boyfriend, introduced me to couch surfing. My very first event was the Washington DC couch crash of 2022 and it was remarkable! DC has a very special place in my heart because of that event. Since then I've been to the Denver and San Francisco couch crashes where I met very knowledgable, friendly and strong people. I've hosted a few people in my apartment in NYC but unfortunately had to stop hosting because I needed to get a roommate.

Musica, film e libri

I like obscure music from around the world. Just discovered Hermeto Pascoal who is a very creative Brazilian jazz multi-instrumentalist. But my go to favorites are David Bowie, Daft Punk, T-Rex, The Decembrists, Anohni and the Johnsons, Кино, Аукцыон, Мумий Тролль, Монеточка and others.

I love a good sci-fi film like 'Children of Men', 'Stalker' and the 'Matrix'. I think Rainer Werner Fassbinder's films are all incredible but are not the easiest to watch - 'Fear eats the Soul', 'In a year of 13 moons'. One of my favorite comedies is 'What we do in the Shadows.' I also enjoy nature documentaries, one that especially stands out is 'Aquarela', its a fantastic experiential nature doc about the four states of water.

Went to New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina to help rebuild during my spring break in college. I lived in the lower ninth ward in an abandoned elementary school with a generator on the roof and I helped gut houses.
