About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Make history, even if it is a small story:)

ABOUT ME
I have two modes of living - relaxed enjoying of life and fighting with imperfection (mine own and the world's). In journeys I'm in the first one all the time:). It's important for me to combine humanitarian and technical ways of thinking. I'm most humanitarian and now is trying to develop my technical side.

I was born in small Belarusian town Rahachou, then moved to Minsk for studying in a university. I'm still living here almost all the time, except 1,5 years spent in Moscow for work. As a traveler, I was in Poland, Lithuania, Ukraine, Germany, Czech, Slovakia, Serbia, Montenegro, Siberia, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Turkey. And it isn't the end I hope.

Speaking about professional fields, I was working as a journalist for 5 years and now I work in web development. Can't say the decision to change the sphere was a very deliberate decision. But sometimes I just follow my gut feeling and it works.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I think it's a good way to know any country better.

Interests

As a person who changed sphere of expertise, I love to learn:)

It sounds a little bit pathetic, but I believe that volunteering will save the world. Governments are too slow and self-centered to follow society needs. At the same time in post-soviet countries like Belarus people used to wait when the government will make their lives better. It's evidently, never. We have to push changes by ourselves. That's why everybody needs some volunteering:) Finishing this anarchy manifest (I'm not an anarchist, really) I have to say that people who do something for social good just inspire me a lot and help to believe that everything gonna be fine.

So I'm a part of Belarusian open data community. We created an open data portal and a lot of projects based on open data. We make open data laboratories, it's something like small, 4-hours hackathons if you know what I'm speaking about. I believe it's the stuff that can make the life a little bit more comfortable and safe.

Last 3 years I'm a part of documentary film festival team, Watch Docs Belarus. The festival started firstly in Poland, so you can read about it in English here: http://www.watchdocs.pl/2017/a/index-home-en.html

Music, Movies, and Books

It changes all the time, so we can just speak about actual preferences. Our of times is maybe Star wars and Ukrainian poet Siarhey Zhadan. Last years I enjoy documentaries a lot.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

And as an open data volunteer I'm helping to develop an open data portal opendata.by.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can tell you a lot about belarusian culture. It is a mistery. Especially for those who think that Belarus is a part of Russia. It is the biggest mistake you can do, my friend!:)
