About Me

Hello,

My name is Alinda (알린다)

First of all, I'm not able to host anybody now, because I do not have my own place now.

Also, sorry but I don't host (single) men in my house. This is just a principle for me.

I love traveling and learning about different cultures. There are many places in Europe that I have visited. In 2008 I made my first big trip, I stayed in India for a month with my sister who lived there. The last couple of years I visited Israel, Jordan, Turkey, Thailand and Singapore, as well as many European countries.

Since my first trip to Thailand I really fell in love with Asia!
There are many countries that I want to visit, but on the top of my list is South Korea. Other countries I want to visit are: Russia, Morocco, China, Japan, USA, Mexico and many more!

I love watching Asian dramas (most are Korean) and listening to Kpop. I even started to learn a bit of Korean (a few words and frases, basic).

In 2017 I made my first trip to South-Korea and made use of couchsurfing for the first time. I really enjoyed it and met some great people.
Second time in Korea was in 2018, I traveled around for 5 weeks that time.

In daily life I am now back to studying because I started my Bachelor of Theology online.

My family and friends are very important to me. I'm the youngest child and being an aunt is really amazing and I love spending time with my nephews and nieces.

I love having meaningfull conversations with people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While traveling I would love meeting locals and experience a lot of new things. Staying in hotels can be fun, but it is also difficult to interact with the local community. They can show you the best places to visit, the best food to eat, and can tell the best stories.

When I was in India with my sister, I had the chance to meet some of her friends in Chennai and later in Calcutta. It was such a great experience, because through these people I got to experience such different things than tourists. And their hospitality really impressed me.

When I was on my first backpacking trip in Singapore and Thailand, I sometimes felt really lonely. Feeling welcome in a new place, that is what I am looking for :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books: I love romance novels :) historical and contemporary. One of the best books I read was Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. But I also like authors like Julia Quinn, Lisa Kleypas and Suzan Elizabeth Phillips.

Movies and series: asian dramas, Kdrama, Korean drama, Thai lakorn, Chinese drama.
Lots of European and American movies. (because of my interest in history I like costume drama, historical).
I also like some old Hollywood classics like: My fair lady, Gigi.

Music
Now I really like kpop (my ult group is NCT, but I love many groups like EXO, BTS, Seventeen, Red Velvet, VIXX, GOT7, Day6, IU, The Boys)
Christian music: Hillsong, Elevation worship, Bethel music.
Musicals like Aida, Beauty and the beast, Les Miserables, The phantom of the opera.
Anberlin, Jason Mraz, Snowpatrol.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 2008 I traveled to India to visit my sister who was working there as a volunteer. I traveled 3rd class in an Indian sleeper train (no AC).

In 2010 I traveled to Israel and Jordan with a youth group from my church. I slept in a tent in the Wadi Rum dessert and I walked through an underground watertunnel (Hezekia's tunnel in Jerusalem). It was sooooo refreshing because we were there during a heat wave.

2016: A solo trip to Thailand and Singapore.
It was quite an experience!
On the night of departure my flight got canceled and I arrived at my destination 26 hours later than planned. After traveling for 3 full days I arrived at my hostel (first hostel of my life) and it was terrible!! Very dirty and I didn't feel save there. So I packed my back again and decided to go look for another place to stay.
It was a rough start for my trip, but I still had an amazing time :)

2017: I traveled through Korea and used couchsurfing for the first time, a great experience.

Summer 2018:
Roadtrip in Europe, my best friend and I visited 6 countries in three weeks. We had a great time!

In 2021/22 I lived in Hungary for half a year, friends of mine live in a small town near Budapest and invited me to live there for a while, which was possible for me bacause I was studying online. I loved seeing the way of live there and being able to go to Budapest.
