About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I am a science lover and former wine producer that's stretching out into the tech world.
ABOUT ME
I am a Dutch/American citizen anxious to discover the world and the people in it. I love music from Bach to Boys Noize and everything in between. I frequent music festivals and think Coachella 2010 was the most impressive. I also love to read. I am currently scouring my way through Lonesome Dove, White Noise, and Lean In. Many of my friends will describe me as one of the easiest-going people they know. I am energetic, enthusiastic, but also love a good bed or a warm fire to curl up by and do a puzzle.
I travelled once with a friend to Burgundy. On the way, we stopped for a picnic and I said, "Bonjour" to one of the natives of the tiny village. When she returned, she invited my friend and me to coffee. After an hour of discussing American/French perspectives, we had to be on our way, but she gave me a pumpkin as a present. I live for little slivers of life like this.
PHILOSOPHY
If you are going to do something, you had better do 100% of it. Otherwise, it's a waste of time.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I move around a lot, but where there is a will, there is a way. My couch is your couch. If your couch was my couch, you're always welcome wherever I may be making wine. Maybe some wine will be involved too.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I have had many memorable experiences. I cannot choose between seeing an arty film and having drinks after with Thomas and his interesting Chilean friends or discovering Merijn can learn hula hooping during a run. Spending a too-short week with Julien: talking, kayaking, sailing, touring tractors. I loved living at the Craic House: Joe, Byron, Dave, Natty, Chou Chou, Sarah, Simon, all the Dutch boys, Ben, all, all, all! Thanks to Couchsurfing, I have an adopted Argentinian family in Julián, Augusto, and Gaucho (Gauchito, Cheeto), the doggie, I love them with all of my heart. CS is filled with wonderful people and that is the best experience of all.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Picked grape clusters larger than my head for ten hours, jumped off a huge rock into the river near Calce, après j'ai fait une nuit blanche. Bordel.
Biked from Savenierres, FR to Andermatt, CH ( more than 1000 km, not including the km I was lost)...
Lived in the most amazing house in Perth...thanks Craic Whores!
Ate Durian and burped that smell for 3 hours, sorry gross I know.
Killed a Kangaroo with my 4x4 in Australia. Maybe not amazing, but something. Sorry, buddy.
Taught an Argentinian dog how to be bilingual.
Found two brothers I never knew I had in Mendoza...muchos besos, más amor, Julián y Augusto.
Teach, Learn, Share
I used to make wine for a living. I'm also a total science nerd. I'm also getting better at weird things like hula hooping, long cycling trips, and twirling fire batons.
