About Me

Hello, my name is Alisa and I'm looking for friends!

I'm moving at the moment, and will actively become a host again when I am settled in. Currently, planning a road trip to my new home and trying to find hosts looking to be kind to a girl and her dog.

I have traveled a lot in Europe, and excited to meet some amazing US hosts.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

As a guest:
I love friends.
Also, traveling is always funner with company. I'm not enough of an introvert to travel in my own company. It feels morose and like I'm trying to be a poet or something. I have a proclivity for annoying introspection when alone, and I will pick up a cigarette and scowl at all who look at me. (I'm kidding. But meeting people wins, you know?)

As a host:
I've had such a positive experience surfing and would love to return the favor to other travelers. I may not be the best at showing you around the city, but I can try. I have yet to do any touristy things here in A'dam so if you're into that, I can definitely do that; why not?

Music, Movies, and Books

I love a great amount. I hate country. I love mariachi. I'm serious.

I don't know. Live music is almost always wonderful. I'm that person that starts convulsing in the middle of the pit; then, you realize I was dancing the entire time and you start to feel bad for my dancing ineptitude. Other than that, I love supporting local bands and festivals; the Netherlands has so many that it becomes hard to keep up! I think my favorite festival is Beaches Brew in Italy, a free festival on the beach (Adriatic Sea), where I fondly remember Ty Segall smearing birthday cake into my hair while an Italian woman tried putting my wallet in her crotch. Good times.

Movies? Gosh. I like a lot. I know it's a cop out answer, but I'm not going to define my entire persona on three movies or something like that. I don't particularly align myself with action movies. I don't know why. The movie can be fantastic, but the genre overall isn't my cup of tea.
I like comedies mostly, thrillers, so-called 'art films', rock'n'roll movies (you know, like Tommy or A Hard Day's Night), dramas, historical epics...pretty much anything. And Mean Girls. YOU CAN'T SIT WITH US. YOUR MOM'S CHEST HAIR. I could go on and on.

Books are for NERDS. (Kidding! I love reading, but I'm a literary garbage disposal so throw me a suggestion and I'll read it.)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have burped with my eyes open.

Wait, is that not a thing?

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: English, Spanish, cooking, bad jokes

Learn: Teach me your ways.

Share: ...My closet?

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm conversational, but you can be honest with me about when you want to hang out and when you want to be left alone. I'm a sociable introvert, if that makes any sense.
