I love the freedom that comes with travelling alone, but hostels aren't always the best place to make meaningful connections (they're really great for sorting out jet lags, mid-week partying and other stuff that might disrupt your host though!) Getting to know actual locals is obviously another huge plus. If you've got pets it's even better, I miss my 12 yo puppy a lot when I travel...

I'd love to host other people at some point, but unfortunately I don't live on my own at the moment. I used to have "wants to meet up" on my profile but decided to switch it after a few too many date-type requests... I'm still up for hanging out as long as you're cool and respectful!

spent a week in a ger in the middle of nowhere in Mongolia in February (stayed with the most amazing family, had a chance to herd about 300 goats and angora sheep on horseback on my own, ate way too much horse meat, drunk way too much vodka and survived a massive snowstorm!)
