About Me
CURRENT MISSION
I watch the movie Beaches once a month to reaffirm I'm alive.
ABOUT ME
Hi. How are you? My name is Alisdaire. I am a recent graduate of Columbia's Playwrights Fellowship and I did my undergraduate at NYU in Screen/TV and Linguistics. But don't let that be a red flag! I work and I have savings lined up. I recently just got hired at Ken Burns production company, slowly watching my life descend its' spiral staircase into complete and utter vegetation. I recently had been laid off from my prior job in NY doing script coverage for a production company that was a subsidiary of CBS/Showtime and worked as a PA on Nurse Jackie (I'm trying to sell myself, please don't read this as ego. Purdy please.) I am in need of a place immediately to record a podcast for Earwolf about Cincinnati's "elite."
I'm a writer, so by virtue of that very notion, I keep to myself. This is not to say I'm a hermit or of the "anti-social" lot-- it's just that I respect people's space because home is where the heart is. And the goddamn peace and quiet is. So, I'm not the surfer that will have celebrations and bake cupcakes every second of the day (if that's what you're looking for, I'm sorry. Not in my pedigree and not a special skill on my resume).
I am very hygienic. This doesn't mean you have to be. I'm also a ginger. This doesn't mean you have to be (although it would be kind of funny if that was a bottomline).
DISCLAIMER: I'm gay
For the ladies, I respect women's spaces (since my last 3 apartments I've lived with girls, all of whom scaled the spectrum of crazy and not crazy, so I do easily adapt to "roommate rapport" -- is that a phrase? If not, by golly, I found one). I'm not squeamish or immature about 'lady issues' and I really am someone who prides themselves on not putting women into a binder (see, I'm political!)
For the "dudes who don't like dudes who like dudes" dude: I bro out a lot. Video games, beer, talking about tits, listening to rap music ironically or non-ironically, smelly shoes, dirty dishes. I'm chill with the 'dill' so don't let the homo thing harsh your mellow. I also don't flaunt my gayness in a way that will make you guys be like, "yup. this can get awkward."
I know this all reads self-deprecating, but it's really more that I'm aware that people may or may not have issues so better be ahead of people's presumptions than find out after the fact. I know not everyone in this city is open-minded (and/or gay). I just like to cover my bases.
If the girl/no gay thing is a bottom line for you, I understand wholeheartedly, but I thought I would at least extend an alternative because, hey, we're all human.
Like what you've read? Yes? No? Maybe so? Could've used a better ending that was less predictable cuz the first movie did it sooo much better? Duly noted.
So if this diatribe engenders the tiniest modicum of faith in the gay male species as being a potential couchsurfer in your household, do feel free to email me back or buzz me at 917.830.7409. I'm available to meet with you at your earliest convenience to talk, text, coffee, beer, chill, do a duck tour. Whatever tickles you pink.
Cheers and I shall keep my fingers crossed.

PHILOSOPHY
You say potato. I say you're wrong.
I don't eat carbs in front of my roommmate.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I meet people. We talk. We sit in silence. We talk some more. We notice the pet. You ask if I'm too cold. I say I'm fine. You say "cool." We both nod. I ask where the restroom is. You point upstairs. (...to be continued)
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I've couchsurfed all over the world, however, not officiated by the couchsurfing.org. I need their stamp of approval to feel validated (and so I can avoid Craigslist from the outset and throughout)
