About Me

I am a Visual Artist from British Columbia, Canada. My work is often installation based incorporating various elements of sculpture, painting, drawing, video, sound and performance. Examples of my artwork can be found here: http://alishadeddensart.tumblr.com/

I love to explore and learn new cultures and languages. I am always up for a good adventure and to taste new and interesting foods!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I joined couchsurfing because I am planning a trip to Europe and I think it would be a great way to become immersed in the culture of the countries/cities I'm visiting, rather than being a tourist. Locals always know the secrets to their home land and the best places to eat! I want my trip to be about getting to know people not just saying that I've been there. Of course being an artist I will always want to see the artwork as well, but that goes without saying :)

Interests

- ART, ART and ART! Sculpture, painting, drawing you name it I have probably studied it and would LOVE to see some of the original work by the greats in art history!
- MUSIC - From the classical greats like Chopin, Bach and Tchaikovsky to House Music, music fuels my soul.
- FOOD - I want to taste authentic local food wherever I go. Home-grown and homemade that's how life should be :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Oh there are so many things to choose from!

Music: Where to start? I'd have to say I am a big fan of the 60s, 70s and 80s classics. (E.g. Supertramp, ELO, The Beatles, ABBA, Chicago, Led Zeppelin, Simon & Garfunkel, Sting), but I also dabble into other genres as well.

Favourite movie: Inception. I like plots twists and stories that surprise you.

I don't have a favourite book because I have read many good ones, but my favourite author would be Dr. Seuss, just because it brings back so many childhood memories.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have overcome Childhood Epilepsy and my story lives on through my artwork. Talk to me about my experience. I am always willing to share my story.

Teach, Learn, Share

I love to share my passion for art and art history. Whether that be through my own work or through discussions on the many artists I have studied.

I also teach people about how to deal with epilepsy and what to do when you see someone having a seizure.

I am always learning. Learning languages, cultures, meeting knew people. My goal in life is to learn and soak up as much as I possibly can.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can share my love for all sorts of culture. Especially art and my artistic skills because my sketchbook and pencils come with me wherever I go.
