About Me

Currently living and soon to be teaching in a kindergarten in Prague. I've spent most of my life in Canada, where I just finished a degree in creative writing. Home has made me love lakes, hiking, wildflowers, fishing, camping, and all things outdoors.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the unexpected connections that come from traveling and meeting new people. I've just started couch-surfing on my own after two fantastic experiences couch-surfing with friends.

The first time, we ate rabbit with a group of Spanish-speaking people in Malta and played loup garou to help them with their English. The other, we went out for beers with our host and were able to pretend for a couple nights that his cat, Chicken, was our own.

I couldn't have had these strange and wonderful times in a hostel or at a campsite. I love learning about other cultures through the people who live there, and sharing what I can about my own.

Interests

Hiking and camping are two of my favourite things to do—I'm happiest when outdoors and take every opportunity to explore a new countryside.

Relaxing weekends with good beer and good live music are also a favourite, as are sleepy Sundays with big brunches and afternoons spent reading and drinking coffee.

Music, Movies, and Books

I can't begin to narrow it down, but grew up on old classic rock, and like a wide range of music from alternative to classical, electro swing jazz, rock, and rap. I am always reading, most recently addicted to long-form nonfiction and short fiction.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I trekked to the base camp of Annapurna in the Himalayas with my family as a teenager, and can think of no happier time in my life. It was an incredible trip, seeing a beautiful landscape, meeting incredible people, and experiencing such a rich and interesting culture.
