About Me

CURRENT MISSION

creative collaboration

ABOUT ME

My great-grandparents are Scottish, German, Swiss, Dutch, French, and Finnish, so my bones come from there. I was brought up in the suburbs of los angeles. There, with the help of my dad's humor and intellectual philosophizing and my mom's enthusiastic appreciation of anything creative, I learned to seek magic in suburbia.
I love to laugh, and to connect with people. I love to feel the enormous power of life, in all of its many forms.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

The experiences I've had surfing couches in the Pacific Northwest have been quite heartening.

Interests

botany & all sorts of natural history, herbal tea, cooking and eating good food with friends and family. holistic medicine, anatomy, well-loved gardens, community spaces, the intersection of art and science, good jokes! writing groups! folk and social dancing of many kinds. improv dancing. singing (the un-professional-but-straight-from-the-heart kind!). simple music-making with guitars, squeezeboxes, and anything that happens to be lying on the table. firelight.

Music, Movies, and Books

movies: even the rain
music: lila downs, chavela vargas, tom waits, the brass menagerie... many rhythms and melodies!
books: ceremony by leslie marmon silko, sam woods: american healing by stan rushworth... good stories!

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach some plant propagation & medicinal uses, basic botany, a little plant/lichen/mushroom physiology and how to use a dichotomous key! Also, a lot of other random natural history tidbits. I'm interested in sharing cooking methods, favorite herbs for tea, writing space, languages, music-making, and singing revelations!
