ABOUT ME

We are a Canadian family that sold our house and left our jobs so we can travel permanently. Alison is a writer and coaches other creative people. Shawn is interested in investing and organizational management. Lia is 6 years old and loves to draw and learn languages. Nico is 4 years old and loves dancing and sport. We enjoy meeting new people and having adventures together.

PHILOSOPHY

Be yourself. Know your values and live by them. Treat others as you want to be treated. Keep your mind open and learn all you can. Every problem is a lesson in disguise. Everyone is creative, and practicing creativity makes us happy, healthy people.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We are new to the Couchsurfing community, and excited to stay with hosts on our travels as well as open our apartment when we are in Penang.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

We have just joined but look forward to having our first surfing experiences on our upcoming trip to Europe. When we return to Penang in September, we will be able to do some hosting and participate in meet-ups.

Interests

As a family, we love: reading, writing, watching good films/TV, talking to friends on Skype, sightseeing, swimming, having meals together, playing games, going for walks, doing crafts and puzzles. We like talking about: spirituality, parenting, entrepreneurship, culture, politics, economics, and intentional community.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Meeting my children in China for the first time was intense -- exhilarating and sad and overwhelming all at once.
I was truly stunned the first time I skied Sunshine Mountain near Calgary, to be above the tree line and surrounded by peaks!
