About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To see with eyes unclouded by hate.
ABOUT ME
I'm an extroverted and insatiably curious 20-year-old student of International Relations and Videography.
Before you read further, some people use couchsurfing as a dating website. However, that's not what I'm looking for. Please don't contact me with those intentions! I'm just looking to make some new friends.
After a few too many rough family vacations, I opted to travel solo starting at age 14, and I've been addicted since. My preference is to spend long amounts of time getting to know the culture and the people, but my university and work schedule only allows for so much travel at the moment.
As far as traveling goes, I strive to be as flexible, optimistic and open-minded as can be. I am perfectly capable of adventuring on my own and exploring the sites solo, but I do love getting to know the people I'm staying with and the world from their perspective.
I was born and raised in the exceptionally homogenous town of Gig Harbor, Washington, until I wandered off on my own to live at a school in Europe for a year at age 14. Since I have continued to strive to spend more and more time abroad, and use those experiences to enrich my time back home.
I'm returning to my university after a brief sabbatical working on a documentary in Los Angeles. I plan on majoring in International Relations and seeing where that takes me.

PHILOSOPHY
In the Miyazaki film, "Princess Mononoke", one of the characters is instructed by an old wise woman to go out and "see the world with eyes unclouded by hate." Social change happens when people on opposite sides of the world are able to understand each other, and for me, that all begins with travel.

Normalmente, no me gustan cosas "turísticas".
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have met many a couchsurfer, and hosted one recently at my apartment in Los Angeles. Whilst living in Buenos Aires, I visited the weekly couchsurfing get-togethers my friends were involved in. I recommend this site to each and every person I get the chance to talk to about it, and I'm looking forward to surfing and hosting more and more.

Yo he conocido bastante Couch Surfers, pero no he todavia quedado en una sofa. Pero quiero empezar! Con suerte, en este viaje, voy a usar Couch Surfing mas y mas.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
So far I have greatly enjoyed couchsurfing, both as a host and a surfer. People are so surprisingly gracious, and the opportunity to connect with strangers in this way is unsurpassable.
Interests
I'm a creative person by nature. I dabbled in theater, drawing, and music until settling into videography and photography, though I still love all forms of expression.
Sailing, spoken word, poetry, muay thai, martial arts/self defense, foreign policy.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: I am a sucker for cheesy, 90s R&B. Tank, R. Kelly, the Isley Brothers, I love them all. Generally, however, my iTunes library has a wide assortment of tunes. I love live jazz, neo-soul, singer/songwriter. I also have an extensive knowledge about heavy metal, from prog-rock to black metal to post-hardcore.
My boyfriend is in a band called Issues, which is touring internationally this summer as well as on Vans Warped Tour. When I'm not traveling solo or at school, I hope on the tour bus with them and rock out sidestage to their shows. (PS Check them out on Youtube, you might like them!)
Movies: Anything Miyazaki, Chinatown, old classic movies, thrillers (like Cabin in the Woods! Great scary movie) and too many to write.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I was deported (when I was 14) - I lived in Scotland for a year, my first true experience travelling abroad solo. I attended a boarding school I found through a Google search, after convincing my parents to let me go. Unfortunately, I didn't get the right visa in time, and when I returned home for Christmas, planning on returning mid-January for 2nd semester, but didn't get through UK customs. I lived at home for several months before figuring everything out and returning.
I was kicked out of a gala by the Indian military (when I was 17). Something about the color of my skin and some asshole guards resulted in a disaster involving several guards pointing big guns at me, shouting indistinguishably in Hindi while I cringed.
