Overview
About Me
28 year, 6 ft, British male wandering around the world. I am coming to the end of an 8 month sojourn around South America, North America and South East Asia.
Trained accountant (yawn) and wannabe DJ (still cliche, but slightly more exciting).
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
To find places to stay whilst traveling - aren't we all?
Haha, I actually got talking to a friend who uses it and he says it is a brilliant way of networking with other travelers and meeting new people. He now has friends who he visits all over the world, who provide not only cheap accommodation, but also a more authentic and personal experience when he visits them.
I would like a piece of that.
Interests
Music - I play the drums, although not to any great level. I am also learning to DJ. This comes from taking a year out to travel and deciding I will do all the stuff I've wanted to do for a while. It is also influenced to having listened to electronic music from the age of 10.
Sport - I play tennis and football. I also run a lot. Part of my travelling has included videoing my runs on a camera which I strap to my chest.
Business - I am very interested into start up business, specifically entrepreneurs. I am a member of startups.co.uk, Seedrs.com, Kickstarter and am currently completing an application for FundingCircle. This comes from working the US for 3 months running my own bookselling business.
Writing - I keep my own blog, to detail my travels. I would like to have a job as a journalist or a professional travel writer in the future, as I really enjoy the freedom writing gives.
Travel - I have traveled South America, North America and South East Asia extensively. Pretty standard destinations I know, so I am looking to go to the Middle East on my next trip, most likely Uzbekistan.
Languages - I am learning Spanish at the moment, and after this I will try and learn one of the Asian languages, either Mandarin or Cantonese.
Dance - I am learning to do Salsa at the moment, and also Yoga. I also go to the gym regularly.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - generally electronic. I like deep house specifically, such as Dixon, John Talbot, Kris Menace and Solomun.
I have a variety of other music on my iPod though. Saje, Beethoven, The 1975, Drake, and Glass Animals to name a few.
Movies - didn't watch many as I was growing up, so am making up for lost time now. I enjoy a wide variety, but I despise horror. I don't see why you would pay $10 to scare yourself shitless. Good films I've seen recently include Lone Survivor, The Paperboy, American Hustle, Now You See Me, Dead Man's Shoes, Dallas Buyers Club, A Million Ways to Die in the West and Silver Linings Playbook.
Books - I'll make it clear now, I'm not a Harry Potter fan. I don't dislike the books, they're just not for me. I really enjoy autobiographies and books based on true stories. Good books I've read recently include King of Oil: Marc Rich, Born to Run, Cityboy, Jack Welch's Autobiography, Secret Footballer.
I am trying to find copies of Papillion, Shantaram and Marching Powder. If you know anyone who owns one, I would be much obliged.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Have traveled to a few cool places, so I will list my favourite
Machu Picchu trek in Peru. Including 250m ziplining across a canyon.
Stayed on a farm in The Pantanal, with a swap trek through piranha, anaconda and caymen infested waters.
Spent a night on a private island in Halong Bay.
Motorbike tour through northern mountains of Sapa in Vietnam.
Risen to see sunset across Bagan in Myanmar. A forested area with 25,000 temples.
Helicopter ride over Iguassu Falls in Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay.
Driven the Death Road in Bolivia.
