Overview
About Me
I am currently studying theatre in my home province of Manitoba, which I've found to be a great experience overall. It may not be a surefire way to get a job, but at the very least, it gives me the opportunity to do what I love.
I usually struggle with writing about myself, but on https://www.16personalities.com, I am known as an INFP, or a "poetic, kind and altruistic" person, "always eager to help out a good cause." A lot of actors/musicians/writers tend to get that type, which is good because I dabble in all 3 :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I created an account in preparation for my trip to the United Kingdom.
I would like to meet locals while I'm in the UK, and Couchsurfing seems like a great opportunity to do so! I'd like to experience life in another country, rather than simply observe it from the comfort of a Best Western or something.
Also, I'm travelling on a budget, so not having to stay at a hostel/hotel every night would be definitely appreciated.
Interests
- Theatre (I'm taking a potpourri of related courses, I mostly act but have tried my hand at directing & playwriting, and will learn more about backstage work/dramatic analysis in the coming year)
- Music
(Performing and listening to it. I'm a pianist/guitarist/trombonist and a few other things, and I'm mostly self taught. I'm not the best of teachers, though)
- Creative writing
- Animals (both domestic and exotic; more of a fascination than anything close to a hobby)
- Nature
- Learning about new cultures, cities, countries, etc.
- Curling (the sport, not a form of hairstyling)
- Learning new languages (more of an interest than a natural talent)
- Computer gaming
(When I have time for it, which is usually 0% of the time I'm traveling)
- animals
- writing
- acting
- cooking
- traveling
- music
- sports
- languages
Music, Movies, and Books
MUSIC: I like a wide variety of music, but some of the top genres include classic rock (eg. Beatles, Queen), modern rock (Muse, The Black Keys), all sorts of classical (from Sibelius to Tallis), TV & movie soundtracks (Murray Gold, John Williams), folk inspired by Celtic music (Great Big Sea or The Chieftains) and even some swing (Miller, Goodman).
MOVIES & TV SHOWS: Harry Potter, Lord of the Rings, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Monsters Inc, Guardians of the Galaxy, Game of Thrones, Sherlock, Doctor Who, Jessica Jones, etc.
BOOKS: Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire, Lord of the Rings, A Series of Unfortunate Events, etc.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Well, one thing would be having travelled to all 10 Canadian provinces and multiple US states by the age of 15.
What I Can Share with Hosts
- Knowledge about travelling in Canada, if desired
- A generally polite and friendly disposition, and a willingness to get to know the host(s) (even though I tend to be a better listener than talker).
- If you'd like some help with anything (e.g. with cleaning, or cooking) while I'm around, I can do that too!
