About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Looking for interesting people and the next bottle of wine

ABOUT ME

I reckon I'm friendly, relaxed and open minded - I'll let you be the judge of that though haha. Give me a bike, some sunshine and good company and I'm happy.

Filling in all this stuff feels like MySpace, having a major nostalgia trip...

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

The way the shifts work for my job mean I have a lot of free time in the day, so would love to hang out with some couchsurfers.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've been to quite a few meetups and surfed with someone in Prague. All really positive experiences, and more quirky than visiting standard backpacker hostels (though these are also fun).

Interests

Cycling (all kinds, especially BMX although I'm getting a bit old for that now), reading, writing, journalism, standard backpacker bullshit (meeting new people/going to new cities/having alcohol fuelled adventures in strange places blah blah blah)

Music, Movies, and Books

Books - travel writing by Paul Theroux, Catch 22, Down and Out in Paris and London, The Secret History, The White Tiger, anything by Iain Banks or Ian McEwan.

Music - Loads of stuff ranging from Led Zeppelin to Fela Kuti to Massive Attack. Basically whatever they play on BBC 6 Music... Also have an embarrassing weakness for catchy pop songs

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Visited North India for 10 weeks in 2011 - crazy country with amazing people. It was a really eye opening period for me (with both positive and negative dimensions) and as a result I've spent the last few years encouraging my friends to travel there themselves...

Teach, Learn, Share

Can fix your bike, teach you way more than you want to know about farming (I grew up on a farm) and could also give you advice on website design/promotion for your travel blog.

When backpacking I become a budget fanatic so have some good tips for travelling on the cheap as well.

I enjoy helping people with their English and I know a fair bit about the UK media as I read newspapers for a living.

Is any of this stuff useful? I have no idea...

Countries I’ve Visited

Australia, Austria, Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hungary, India, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Slovakia, Spain

Countries I’ve Lived In

United Kingdom
