About Me

Ooof, I never really know how to write these things, so for my own sake I'm gonna break it down into topics of things I love...

HUMAN CONNECTION: exchanging stories, ideas and experiences. Interacting with people face to face is far more entertaining to me than anything else. Whether it is fun banter or deep philosophical conversations, as long as there are positive vibes it's always a good time!

LAUGHTER: I'm an addict. I love to laugh and make others laugh. Oh, and I am a comedian :) I do standup mostly, though I enjoy doing sketch comedy and improv as well. I feel very fortunate to be able to do something I am so passionate about.

FOOD: I love to eat (always up to try something new) and I enjoy cooking too (not so much for the prep part, but I love to feed people...that's a very Tanzanian thing). I can make a wide range of dishes from basic hearty meals to fancier (borderline pretentious) dishes.

TRAVELLING: I worked in the tourism industry for about 10 years and had the opportunity to wander quite a bit. Travelling has given me the chance to meet so many incredible people, see humour translate across languages and cultures and of course I got to try all the food, thus combining all the things I love!

AUTHENTICITY: In life in general, this is what I seek in every experience, interaction and in myself. Realness. It is not always easy, no one is immune to influences around them...but I think that's where true happiness is when you can find it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Well, if you read the above you know I am all about meeting new people and enjoying new experiences. I usually stay in guest homes or Airbnb when I travel because I enjoy interacting with hosts and it's a great way to get to know the local scene when making short visits to new places. After speaking with a few people who have had great experiences with Couchsurfing I am really excited about this concept and community!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have such varying taste. Really depends on what I am in the mood for in that moment...I enjoy most things, but here's a few off the top of my head:

Music: R&B, reggae, old school hip-hop, jazz, blues, funk, soul

Books: Siddhartha, Around the World in 80 Days, Veronika Decides to Die, The Undomestic Goddess, The Alchemist

Movies: Everything Everywhere All At Once, Mary and Max, Usual Suspects, Scarface, Moonrise Kingdom, Breakfast at Tiffany's, Spy, Back to the Future

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I climbed Mount Kilimanjaro which is an accomplishment that will forever make me feel like I can do anything I put my mind to! (Also, that was 8 years ago and I am still milking the cool points from it as much as I can! haha)

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to try everything and learn anything! Please share, if there is something you like to teach or knowledge you wanna pass on I am down! I have a very curious mind and more than any book or class I’ve ever taken, my interactions with people I meet have taught me the most.

I am equally happy to teach you anything I know. If you are planning trip to somewhere I have been, I will give you tips! Wanna practice a language I know, let’s do it! Always wanted to learn to cook a coconut curry dish or dance to reggae? I got you!

And of course another perk about hosting me is free comedy! I mean yes naturally I will make you laugh when we interact (I hope!) but I mean tickets to comedy shows. Any shows I’m doing I can usually get complimentary tickets for my host, so free laughs on me :)

What I Can Share with Hosts

laughter (free comedy shows),

stories (love sharing and hearing peoples’ stories),

meals (I am always happy to share food, cook for my hosts or take them out for a meal)
