About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn, travel, and meet interesting people

ABOUT ME

I currently work as a programmer in SF, but I try to spend a lot of time climbing, traveling, and hanging out with friends. I studied classical (and some jazz) bass and computer science in college. I also love to ski and play squash.

PHILOSOPHY

Know thyself. If you're excellent to the world, usually the world responds in kind. Happiness and love are active practices.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

The best way to learn about culture is through direct interactions with locals! Couch surfing is one of the best (if not the best!) ways to do that.

Interests

Bass, learning, meeting new people, squash, hiking, skiing, climbing, concerts, music festivals, board games, programming, occasionally video games =)

Music, Movies, and Books

LOTS I'm sure we have at least some common ground =)

Music is the most important to me of these: I love rock, indie, classical, jazz, house, deep house, funk, and more! I studied classical bass at a music conservatory.

I don't read as often as I should these days but I love science fiction (Dune, Stranger in a Strange Land) as well as fiction (A Song of Ice and Fire, Malazan: Book of the Fallen).

I love movies but I want them to have _substance_. Good acting, great story, beautiful cinematography, etc. I don't watch them too often these days. Some of my favorites are Lawrence of Arabia, Godfather 1-2, Inception

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hard to pick one, but I did get to see Radiohead play two nights in a row at a medium-sized venue last year. It's hard to pick a favorite concert (or pair) but that might be it.

Teach, Learn, Share

Humor, intelligent conversation, and a very generous and courteous attitude

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'm actually pretty good in the kitchen so I'd be happy to help cook a meal (even if all you need is helping prep ingredients)! I also can help with technology related issues

Countries I’ve Visited

Aruba, Bhutan, Brazil, Canada, Costa Rica, Cuba, France, Ghana, Guatemala, Israel, Japan, Mexico, Myanmar, Nepal, Netherlands, Peru, Portugal, Spain, Tanzania, Thailand
