About Me

CURRENT MISSION

To create a paradigme shift. The majority of the world praises mercy over justice while practicing the opposite. I would like to change that.

ABOUT ME

A buddhist monk once told me I have the "learners mind," or a "beginners mind." That is to say, I observe things without preconception. Others have said that I'm interested in everything and excited about all of it.

PHILOSOPHY

I believe that we were all at one time a single point. The great explosion cast us apart but we are all still bound together by gravity and therefore, though our state has changed, we are all still one thing and much more like that single point then we realize. Therefore I am everything and everything is me so my personal individuality is somewhat meaningless in the grander view but at the same time it is the only thing with meaning because it is the view taken by this one aspect of everything. That makes me equally as important as everything else. I feel this equality gives me the right to pursue myself and discover what I can about the rest of myself which is everything and me. I guess this means I'm interested in learning about all the possibility in the universe, and as long as I acknowledge and act as an equal part of everything I'm doing okay.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I had a couch surfer stay at my house once before I signed up for the service. She was a friend of a friend. That's how I found out about this. Last year I stayed with a great couch surfer named Sam in Taiwan and she treated me better then family.

Interests

I like seeing things. I want to see everything but as that is admittedly impossible I'll just try to see everything I can. In truth though, I want to touch everything. My first word was "touch." I want to feel and see and eat and roll around in everything. I like to travel, write books, ride motorcycles and bicycles, dance.

Music, Movies, and Books

My favorite author is Steinbeck, because he wrote about common people and average struggle. I like most music but I prefer music with a beat. I don't watch movies often but I like Hayao Miyazaki! I read The Life Of Pi recently and it was beautiful.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I was the project manager for an ethnobotanical plant collection team sent by the New York Botanical Garden to work with the Huaorani tribal people in the Ecuadorian Amazon. I lead groups of scientists and Huaorani in the collection of jungle transects. Every atom of my brain and body was working constantly. I felt truly alive.
