About Me

My name is Allan Massoud. I am 28 years old and was born and raised in sunny Los Angeles, California. I was born into a large Egyptian family whom immigrated to America over 30 years ago. Upon their arrival, they started a small furniture import business, of which I managed and ran for the better part of the last 6 years. Perks of the importation business allowed me to travel the world, visiting countries I had only dreamed about. Needless to say; I caught a serious case of wanderlust and realized that travel feeds the soul. Within the past several years I have traveled with my very close group of cousins (were more like brothers) all over the United States and Asia but had never spent an extended stay in any one location. After graduating with a degree in Business Administration, I promised myself that I will fulfill my dream of living in Thailand and traveling throughout Asia on a one-way ticket.
I am traveling the world with open arms; I am excited to see what the future holds and even more excited about the wonderful people I will meet along the way :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I am Couchsurfing because I have learned about its amazing community of hosts and guests. I believe you should be the change you want to see in the world. Breaking down social barriers and opening your arms and your home to others, providing them with food, shelter, and love is, to me, a truly human quality. I believe the best way to experience a new environment is to fully amerce yourself in the culture; eat, sleep, and live like a local. I am continually humbled with the kindness of strangers. In their humility, and hospitality. Growing up in a city like Los Angeles, where you are conditioned to be wary of strangers and to put your own interests before the interests of others, it's easy to lose yourself. You start to become a person who you said you would never become. That's why we travel. Not for us to escape life, but for life not to escape us.
